Big talk is Ogier to M-Sport, as Citroen, despite interest, are unlikely to change their lineup.

In other news the running order ruling is going back to 2014 rules and some people aren't happy as Ogier still won the title despite his moaning on the subject. Also the powerstage points are now for the top 5

How on earth can M-Sport afford Ogier? Are they going to pay him in Kendal Mint cakes.....??

Apparently VW are paying Ogier for next season (not sure about their other drivers). So Kendal Mint cake may be enough.

That is fair enough really, VW pulled the plug after contracts were signed, so hilariously they are still paying a lot of their team I would think. And they are pulling out to save face and money, lol!

They're paying the drivers, they're keeping the team members on and they've built the cars for next year. So not a huge saving on offer really.

Fiesta testing in proper Monte conditions:

https://youtu.be/9lce9jd_wWc

Hard to gauge from the videos so far, but the engine notes of the newer cars do seem a bit more distinctive.

Just a wild rumor, but it would make me really happy if it happens. Red Bull might buy the VW WRC department and run their cars next year.

I hope it happens, seems such a waste to have fully built cars not racing

Seen a few posts on Facebook saying that Ogier will test an M-Sport Fiesta next week. Would like to see the story reported by a reputable source before I get too excited, but very interesting news if true.

That was my first thought too, they have an non factory F1 Team as well. Add in a EKS Audi WRX and VW WRC team and there you go... Let VW do some sponsoring in terms of technology and you're there...

Exciting but maybe odd news being one event. Petter Solberg told local newspaper NWT in Sweden that he wants to do Rally Sweden.

He has done that before in an classic car. Doesn't clash with WRX...

Yeah but it is a giant difference between doing a rally in a classic car and getting the chance to compete with a brand new rally car regulation with cars that are definitely not handed out to everyone. You also need a special license to compete with the new cars.

He wouldn't exactly need a plan were he aims to do a classic rally, he could do one anytime he wants.

He could use an old WRC car of course, nothing is confirmed. But I guess he wants to try out the new car regulation.

Not 2017, but I guess I'll put this here. Did I mention I love Rally Kenya?

There would be little point if it was like it was in it's final days in the WRC. They should make it a one off endurance rally, then it would be a proper test

Exactly! If it's your generic 2 & a bit days WRC event - then why bother?? Make it a proper Endurance event, or don't bother.

Whilst I agree that a proper 'Safari Rally' would be great it's not going to happen. However, surely getting a WRC event back in Africa would be good for the sport? The more continents visited the more of a 'world' championship it would be.
