saliv8 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
is the BF a hybrid as well??

noticed out at willowbank today, that the BF has a rather large bulge to the front guards, a bulge that doesnt appear to be on the BA race car or the BA/BF road car. did ford get a concession on the front guards for the bulge

Plastic guards for the BF, to a homologated dimension and profile... just like VE

... the bitzer solution remains for the BA...

Why were FPR allowed to run the flared guard shape in years gone by, were the regulations quite loose in that area? I guess FPR and T8 have checked it out for aero and found the FPR shape doesn't increase drag before forcing it onto all Ford teams by incorporating an FPR shape flare into the new issue plastic guards?

Unless my eyes are playing up, it appears the bonnet and nose of the BF might be an inch or two slimmer, warping on a firther incline from the A pillar to the headlight tip. The actual headlight at the bottom appears to be in the same or simlar place though, and the meeting of the guard and bonnet looks to be further inset on the BF than the BA.....

The front splitter HAS to be the same width I think, so that means the guards might be rolled in more at the top, or as I state, the nose is a little skinnier...

Thats what i thought. It came up on another forum when the 888 pictures first came out, some people seemed to think the paint job was making the wheel arches stand out more, when 888 had switched designs.

Previously they modified standard guards & I believe the shape was free as long as it was in the dimensions different teams had different profiles.
Here is last years FPR

Compared to 2005s which was more gradual.

I'm surprised no-one has noticed the sliver 6-spokes that DJR have on the car in the 2nd photo.

They look good i think!

Biggest thing I notice from that photo is the mis-alignment of the front bar to the guard. For a level 1 team it looks kinda scrappy....

That FPR guard situation is one I didn't notice last year, surely somebody would have spotted it, was it legal? Obviously if they were able to run it....

Was it legal, not according to some on the red side.
Liberal use of the interpretation of shaping the metal.

Now they all use the same cheaper to replace moulded plastic. No more arguments.

this is the ambrose machine from 2004, as you can see the buldge above the wheel has been around a while now, bit suprised people are only noticing them now..

im sure if VESA had a problem with them they would have canned em 3 years ago

Honestly, I've never noticed them before. Obviously my eyes aren't what they used to be at my age!!

How is it that the O'Brien car pictured doesn't have them and all the other BA's pictured (FPR and SBR) do? Is it permitted for BA's running in Fujitsu Series to run them?

it has allways been a team decision whether to flare the guards, most of the fujitsu guys dont bother and just run the standard BA guards
