Yes, I think the Jeffreys Escort went to NZ at the end of the season- possibly as part of the same deal that took one of the Rouse XR4Ti's 'down under' for the NZ races in January. The buyer was 'Motorsport Pacific', which IIRC was a group of Australian/NZ businessmen- Andrew Bagnall, who later shared a CHMS Corolla in the WTCC was involved.

I think the Jeffreys team continued in '86, but in production saloons, running an Escort RS Turbo for Belcher?

Jesper OH should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Unofficial standings for 1986:

All rounds counting
Points for top-6 positions regardless of number of starters to the 9, 6, 4, 3, 2, 1 scale
1 bonus point for fastest lap, marked *
[] denotes positions outside top-6

Class A (2501-3600 cc):
Pos. Driver BTCC points My calculations R1 R2 R3 R4 R5 R6 R7 R8 R9
3. Andy Rouse 57 57 10* 6 10* 10* DNF DNF1* 10* 10* DNF

31. Barry Barnes 1 1 1 - - - - - - - -
NC David Brodie 0 9 - - - - DNF - - - 9
NC Barry Robinson 0 0 - - - - - - - - DNF

Two annomalies in class A:
-Jeff Allam has somehow received a bonus point for his only BTCC start of the year. My feeling is that he should only be credited for his 9 points for victory.
-Dave Brodie seems to have been a ghost winner at the final race, and with no known fastest lap point information, Brodie likely was the taker of that too. Brodie likely not registered for the championship but still seems to have received "9" points for the win as the tally of Pete Hall and Mike Newman fits perfectly with scores of 6 and 4 points for their second and third in the same race.
Just got to think that Barry Robinson must be the same Barry Robinson who appeared the previous year in a Production Saloon-and a bit Rover Vitesse at Bathurst.

Class B (1601-2500 cc)
Pos. Driver BTCC points My calculations R1 R2 R3 R4 R5 R6 R7 R8 R9
1. Richard Longman 70 68 9 5* 10* 9 10* 9 6 DNF1* 9

NC David Gibson 0 - - - - [8] - - - -
NC Anthony Pownall 0 - - - - [9] - - - -
NC Martin Carroll 0 - - - - DNF - - - -

2 bonus points still available in class B, but all in all 5 points missing in the total point scores! My bet is that Richard Longman took the bonus points and that Alan Curnow, Mark Hales and Colin Pearcy either scored to my calculations or that one or more race results were altered.

Class C (1301-1600 cc)
Pos. Driver BTCC points My calculations R1 R2 R3 R4 R5 R6 R7 R8 R9
1. Chris Hodgetts 85 83 9 10* 9 10* 10* 10* 6 10* 9

Another 2 bonus points not distributed but would fit nicely with Chris Hodgetts. Barry Sheene seems to have been another ghost driver at the Silverstone finals.

Class D (under 1300 cc)
Pos. Driver BTCC points My calculations R1 R2 R3 R4 R5 R6 R7 R8 R9
9. Tony Lanfranchi 26 26 - - 10* - 6 10* - - -
15. James Kaye 10 10 - - - - 10* - - - -

Yes I think Robinson was in the ex Grundig/Cheylesmore car, I'm not sure if he rented/borrowed it or actually bought it though, as it had also been in Barry Barnes hands earlier in the season. Brian Chatfield may have still owned it though (he bought it in 1985)?

Forgot to mention that Brian Chatfield supposedly was disqualified from round 3 at Silverstone for his car being underweight. Only problem with the points situation is that is his only chance to have scored 2 points during 1986. Was dsq appealed and the dissision overturned at a later stage?

Carrera, I'll be happy to repost the 1986 updates, but as I said a couple of days ago on the 1985 thread, I think that is pretty much done with the amount of data I have at hand.

Jesper

GKS did Thundersaloons in a BMW + FIA touring cars..

Did the championship have fewer races to accomodate the FIA series which visited Donington a week before this race? Drivers included Rouse, Newman, Kirby, Dooley, GKS, Allam and Hodgetts.

Q times 2-14 are fastest laps. Pole time is correct.

Fastest laps recorded as speeds A Rouse 107.24mph B Longman 103.64 C Hodgetts 101.07mph record.

I suspect the general state of the championship (small grids and no sponsor) had more to do with the reduced number of races- I don't think the Donington FIA race being a week before the Silverstone BTCC round would be too much of an issue- the previous year, both series had actually appeared at the same meeting, with a few teams (Sytner, possibly Newman, Datapost and one of Terry Drury's Alfas) doubling up and doing both races

Race may have been shortened - Renault 5 race was also over 12 laps and therefore longer by 2 minutes. Sports 2000, FF1600 and FF2000 were all 10 lappers.
