Jeff, having one or two bars I dont think will make any difference to whether you can get in or out, the top bar will be at about the same height as if you had 1 bar anyway. The bottom bar has to be made out of solid lead or concrete remember.

well Iv'e taken a breath counted to 10 and put a letter into Lesley and Steve RE the regs for Class E. I guess if they are approved theres no chance of minor changes

Well Pete I think it may be a scary year as I have just booked accommodation for Knockhill, Rockingham & Snetterton.
I also have one door bar per side and I am not rushing to change it just yet.

Terry Wright was using ACB10's, think he may have switched to toyo's though, more for cost if anything.

im still torn between tyres, ive always had slicks and the car is setup for 20 inch tall slicks that are 9 inches wide

the toyo r888 can be bought in the correct width but is 28mm taller than the slicks. which will make an already over geared metro worse and a lift in the suspension will be needed which i dont want to do as it will affect its handling and looks

avon zzr it not really wide enough and is 29mm taller if i went for the wider one the tyre is 50mm taller than my slicks no its a no go

the khumo v70 is correct width but is 35 mm to tall and ive read that in dry condition it should be shaved down 2mm which with the new regs is not a good start.

the acb10 isnt quite wide enough for the front but perfect for the rear but is the smallest tyre at only 20mm taller than my slick but i want the best tyre.
ive spoke to david at bmtr who states he sells all the tyres s ive spoke about so isnt byast and the best one is the the new zzr without question.
he then said in 2nd place is the acb10 with yoko and toyo in 3rd and last is the v70, but in wet conditions the order is in total reverse.

so is the acb10 the way to go and just make my front wheels thinner

Tis strange that as I've heard the opposite lol, Out of the kumho, toyo and yoko, the kumho the best in the dry, followed by the toyo and yoko, its why Mike Cutt uses Kumho's in the dry and toyo's for the wet.

JeffC above ran Kumho's on his caterham, said they were awesome in the dry but dont think he rated them when it rained. Sure he'll be along to post his thoughts.

I know nothing about the ZZR and ACB10.

i know this is what's making my decision so hard, ive never had any dealing with 1b tyres before so making the correct decision is vital if im going to keep your civic in my rear view.

I back to backed tested 888s and Kumhos on my Caterham in the dry and the kuhos were faster but the tread blocks makes them squishy once they start to over heat and I wasnt keen the time I got caught in a rain shower at Croft!!

think a 888 takes a bit of beating (unlike that Peter Dixxxxxxon )

Testing went perfectly Jeff. Car was faultless all day on it's first visit to the track since I built it.

The only thing was that the exhaust was blowing badly at the end of the day but it turned out the lambda bung had fallen out.

Setup was perfect and engine as strong. Forgot to check the tyre pressures all day and they were all over the place but it still felt good. The car was doing 52 second laps in half dry/half wet conditions so don't think it's too far away.

The was because this is the last time I'll use the car like this before either selling it or converting it to RHD.

done a fair bit this week, it would prob have been easier to build from scratch than to rebuild!

fitted baffled sump but when started it up today there was a knock from the bottom end so had to take it out again and found the crank was touching the baffle plate! wasnt happy not given the cost of the baffle kit! anyway its back together and running and sounds sweet.
also this week have moved ecu , battery inside the car , fitted fire extinguisher and battery cut out , welded up the sunroof and prepped and finished the roof, spent a bit of time cutting a scoop in the bonnet to get some cold air in and same time Im trying to get an air filter fitted but this will mean im going to have fit shorter air horns and prob get it remapped, its running 90mm at mo which is prob too long anyway but last owner used it as a daily drive so prob has a set up for driveability..

job List is getting smaller though, next week will be looking into the suspension and what im going to need to make it handle as good as that pesky Honda!

saxo at mo is (according to the kid i bought it off) around 190bhp with a shed load of torque,as said will prob have to get it mapped when i change the horn length so will hopefully be able to make it a bit more peaky ,driving it on the road it seems nippy enough, biggest prob i will have is the gearbox, its got some crazy ratios and geared for 155mph and will be useless as is, quaife gearset is on the list could just do with finding a money tree :/

well that looks lively think we found class d winner!! cant imagine there will be anything in the grid this year that will be able to beat a well driven Elise, think its always gonna be an advantage starting with a car that was designed to go round corners instead of round supermarkets! oh and looked like you were lucky with the weather at teesside, im off there today with my kids to do a 3 hour endurance race and it looks freezing outside

Car looks superb, need to get it converted back and out me thinks!
