Roger's Used CART Lot

".......Last month, a little birdie told us that Roger Penske would get out one of his old CART cars with an old CART engine (Toyota) so Sam Hornish Jr. could practice with it on road courses during the off-season. It's of particular advantage to teams that have drivers who are either "rusty" or "inexperienced" on road courses. That's pretty-much the only advantage, I think. It's not as if they'll get any testing data from the sessions.

Its a good idea I guess , track time is very important and if you need practice on road courses then why not drag an old car out thats not bound under any testing restrictions that may be in place.

Did you know there was originally supposed to be a road course race back in 1996? The IRL was supposed to be an oval based league, with a few road courses here and there. The original press release back in 1994 said something along those lines. Why they put off adding road courses till now, well I dunno about that.
