The way I see it, you either go all in at the N24 or you might just as well not bother. If you want to be in with a shot at victory, you need a year long development program. If Ferrari aren't ready to support that, they are better off not going at all, as they can only look bad on one of the biggest stages in GT racing without putting in the necessary effort.

After Audi, Mercedes it's now BMWs turn to win this, judging from the quantitative efforts. If i were Ferrari, i would not move into this money challenge, either. Regarding the race: Best weather outlook since 2001 as they said in todays stream. Very great grid, haven't seen this much diversity in a long time. And two Lambos going off at the same time. |

Ferrari were actively discouraging private entries for a while too. Whether or not there's a works team, you'd never see BMW and co trying to stop amaterus entering.

Was the last lap by the Ferrari really that smart? Seems like an excellent way to get hit with the BoP when you're the only car of that type..

I'm sure it will be discussed during the race commentary, but from what I remember of previous years Ferrari factory say the track doesn't suit the cars they build. Sounds like a concocted excuse, and maybe there's more to what was said last year.

To me it seems exactly like a track that Ferrari's would excel at, and that lap kinda proves it. Top 30 qualifying will be really fun to watch.
How much time now before Top 30 shootout? |

Fast lap from the SCG; still not as fast as the Ferrari from earlier

Good on the crew for getting the elusive pole time - if we're talking about commitment to the N24, then Glickenhaus can't go unmentioned.

One thing that I've noticed is that none of the Audis I've seen are on Michelin tires. Almost all of them I've seen are on Dunlops. I'm wondering if this is for the N24 only (Land has run on Michelins in previous VLN rounds), or if Audi Sport has a deal with Dunlop that might have carried over to LMP1 (unlikely as it sounds) if the program continued into this year.

They are even allowed to run different tyre manufacturers during the race. Tyres have been a tough selection this weekend because all races this season have been in very low temperatures around 10°C, while they are expecting 30-40°C track tempertature for the race.

They might not decide, given what you're saying, until race day, even then it seems that you can change tire supplier during the race if you want. And as of now, I don't think that WRT and Land have decided what tires to run, as the most recent photos I've seen they're still not carrying any Michelin or Dunlop decals on their cars as of yet. And the reason I brought up LMP1 vs N24 is that N24 is open tire, unlike BES where Pirelli is the spec tire for example. Last edited by chernaudi; 26 May 2017 at 21:14. |

Tyre situation is a bit out of hand now. Sounds like there will be a lot of blank tyres on a lot of Audis.
