FIM Winners Game --> France

Third round of this game. Rules are:

----------------------------------------------

Object of the game:
You have to guess the winner. You can put one, two, three or four riders as winners.

Scoring:
If you put one rider and he wins, you get 4 points.
If you put two two riders and one of them wins, you get 3 points.
In case you put 3 names and one wins, you get 2.5 points.
If you choose to put four names, and one of them wins, you get 2 points.
If you fail to guess the winner, you get 0 points.

Time limit:
Guesses can be done until one hour before the first race (125, 250 or MotoGP). Usually it will be one hour before 125 race.

Remarks:
Every FIM GP three guesses can be entered: for 125cc, 250cc and MotoGP. Those are three differents games, so you can enter only one or two categories if you like.

Appart from the three classifications (125, 250 and MotoGP), I'll put a "global" classification adding all of them.

The key of the game is to predict the winner putting the least possible numbers of candidates. But if you put too few riders, you risk getting 0 points!

Example:

Let's suppose in Jerez you had put these guesses:
125 = Simoncelli, P.Nieto, Lai (you get 2.5 points for Simoncelli)
250 = Porto, Dovizioso (you get 0 point, you failed)
MotoGP = Gibernau, Rossi (you get 3 points for Rossi)

We will do a final classification in the middle of the season. after that, we will evaluate how the game has gone, and in case it is OK, we will do another classification for the second part of the season.

In MotoGP in the last three years, Gibernau and Rossi have been largely the most succesful in Le Mans (Bugatti). Also Biaggi did relatively well. Nobody else did regularly well, but Checa and Ukawa were 2nd in 2004 and 2002 respectively, and Barros was 3rd, 2nd fastest lap and 2nd in grid in 2003.

Gibernau: win and fstest lap in 2003, win, 2nd FL and pole in 2004. Nothing in 2002.
Rossi: win, FL and pole in 2002, 2nd, and pole in 2003, almost nothing in 2004.
Biaggi: 3rd in 2002, 3rd and FL in 2004, nothing in 2003.

It seems a good circuit for Sete, and obviously Rossi does well, but relatively not so much respecting other tracks. Possible occasional "flares" from Checa. Barros is a sort of dark horse in present form.

In today Friday session, Barros and Sete have done well.

according to Yahoo 80% prob of rain in Sunday. Probably wet sessions tomorrow. Ummm, with wet weather races are always surprising and forecasting very difficult! Another big jump in this game's classifications appears in the cards! =8-O

And remember, JvDG is back in after one session for Tamada, and Anthony West is riding an Aprillia in the 250s and smoked everyone to provisional pole...in the wet.

Oooh and Colin topped FP1 and was 4th in FP2.

Ant is having a one off ride for Aprillia Germany to replace their injured rider. The KTM won't be ready until the next round (hopefully) but KTM have allowed him to ride the Aprillia to give him a chance to get some race practice as he hasn't ridden a race bike for 7 months.

He set provisional pole on friday but it was in a torrential downpour and only 5 riders took to the track. He has qualified in 25th in the dry which as about right for the privateer bike. I'm sure he will be praying for rain and lots of it.

Interesting that Arnoud Vincent was outside the 107% and failed to qualify. Maybe another ex world champion who needs to return to the 125's?

Yahoo insists in 80% rain... if it is wet, I'm curious about Nakano In fact , I've put Barros just in case it's rainy in France.

Some very brave guesses by some of you! (Edwards, Hayden, etc). I think this is going to be fun =B-)

Vincent would need the move back more than Poggiali did, but remember that he is on totally new bike so don't except too much by him.

Pasini is out of the race by the way. 43 races!

--- untie rule ---
I would want to introduce a tie breaking rule. In case of tie, it is ahead who has better score in the last round, then in the second last round, etc. If still there is a tie in "Total" category, it is ahead who has more points in MotoGP, then in 250cc. Finally, if all of that fails, it is ahead who has guess earlier in the last round (and here we cannot tie anymore!).

Basically it will matter in the end of the game, but I'll try to maintain this rule in the partial classifications we have in every GP.

(Signed: Minus Foxley, President of G.I.A. "Games Irrelevant Association")
--- --- ---

gomick won 125 and it saved his round because he doesn't have luck with his risky bets on the other races. Good job!

In 250cc race, SALEEN was the most clever, betting all for Pedrosa, so well deserved win for faith in the small spanish bullet.

MotoGP brought a lot of maximum scorers, not surprising after another Rossi's win. Good judgement, then, by Dani, ascii, SALEEN and Bleu

In Total, astonishing round for Bleu, scoring in the three races! SALEEN had a very good round as well, getting two maximum scores Dani F was also strong with two good guesses. In fact, I did not make bad guesses, betting conservatively and gaining scattered points here and there.

Terrible luck for Hazza (very risky bets, except for Stoner) and Wingman (somewhat less risky but in the end it didn't result). Some players didn't played altough they have good positions: asha, x_dt and, famously, marcus
Code:
FRANCE:

125cc:
gomick 4
Bleu 2.5
Schummy 2.5

250cc:
SALEEN 4
Dani F 3
Bleu 3
Schummy 2.5

MotoGP:
Dani F 4
ascii 4
SALEEN 4
Bleu 4
Schummy 2.5

Total:
Bleu 9.5
SALEEN 8
Schummy 7.5
Dani F 7
ascii 4
gomick 4
Hazza 0
Wingman 0
In the championship, a general "strong" battle is forming between Bleu and... errr... Schummy.

In 125cc, Bleu and Scummy lead, but gomick is very near thanks to his brilliant "luthi" guess. Old king x_dt has been overtaken probably only because (s)he didn't played this round. I hope he/she/it returns again!

In 250cc, Bleu is first, Schummy 2nd and and trio of "4's" is running closely behind (SALEEN, gomick, Wingman).

About MotoGP, Dani and Schummy are in the top and have a small gap to Bleu.

In Total, a very close competition between Schummy and Bleu, just half a point separates them. Dani F is running third behind a gap, after him SALEEN and gomick are preparing to leap forward with more one-rider guesses
Code:

But, by the way, if somebody see any error, please report it in this thread. I usually do the numbers while races are going, in a small Velleda white board and I occasionally mess it
