f4000.com is back online.
That has got to take the cake for a press release that makes the best out of a bad situation by doing nothing more than leaving out a couple of key points (such as 3rd outright was actually 4.5 secs/lap of the pace and also finished last). |

yes i heard there was a combination of mechancial failures and accidents. there were 2 big accidents apparnatly. After a stall on the grid, the car behind tried to avoid it, but had its wheels spinning and speared off the track into the barrier. and later in the race apparantly Mark west got too close to the car in front coming on to the straight and clipped the wheel and speared off into the fence at high speed. he was shaken but uninjured apparnatly. not the best week for f4000, so hopefully it gets better for them. they were still just the quickest on the weekend but theyve apparantly got a lot of work to do on their new engines to get them reliable and faster...

Formula 4000 Philip Island
The entry list offered some hope that the category might give a good showing on return . Not so , the press release on the F4000 site suggested a successfull return . Read the Ozspeed report , just awfully , I was there .
With the new lighter engine you would think it might be able to get near the lap record . They were way off the pace . |

The new engine might have won in the end, but it definately wasn't the quickest out there over the weekend.
Ty Hanger 1:26.87 (F4000) Reindler 1:27.00 (F3) Caratti 1:27.12 (F3) Trimble 1:27.15 (F3) Macrow 1:27.23 (F3) McFadyen 1:27.64 (F4000) (Can you tell I have had a quiet afternoon at work with nothing better to do?) It will be interesting to see the comparisons after they have had more time to develope the engine. When will they both be on the same weekend again? |

The official site has an Avon Tyre logo on it now. Is that a change, didn't they use Yokohama last year?
