I wonder what numbers we will actually get at the first race at Silverstone in both FR2000 & Club Class.

Does anyone have news on likely competitors ?

REALIST has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
I hear that there has been quite a bit of movement of cars. Martin Bloss and the Russells(?) have got hold of 4 FR2000s. I guess that means the '97 has moved on? Dave Scott has sold his car, which is expected to be out again, and he hopes to be out in an FR2000 as does James Green.

Falcon will be running cars and possibly Welch motorsport. Hopefully the French contingent will be out again?

I can certainly confirm that David Scott will be out in a FR2000 as he & his Dad have just got hold of one.

I expect the newly formed Russell Racing will be runing cars in both main Renault UK & BARC championships.

I would also expect to see some more teams runing cars in both UK & BARC races in 2006. Will Ian Pearson get enough funding to run in a FR2000 class car?

Time will tell but I think we are in for a better supported championship in 2006.

There is a north west formula ford team looking at racing in BARC and has access to 2 FR2000 cars and will be quick if the plans come good.

I know that there maybe a few drivers from last years (2005) BRDC single seater championship interested in a BARC FR2000 drive in 2006. A couple of drivers have already done some testing.

I also understand that 1 or 2 of the teams from the UK FR2000 championship are interested in running cars in the BARC championship alongside the TOCA championship.

The signs suggest increases in registrations likely to be in both the Club class and the Championship class, probably the most in the Championship runners. That will work out just fine as last year the Club class was always the strongest.
The best entry list in 2005 was 19 cars. so increases on that should put the formula back on course for it's halcyon days of 1999-2002, let's hope so.

Happy New Year to all of you... Hope 2006 is a good year for us all.

I hope to get a full season of racing in for a change so as long as the championship costs aren't too extortionate - I'll be in :-)

P.S. Anyone here greatly affected by running ancient harness/belts?

I haven't got my licence yet, so haven't seen the new blue book, but someone on ten tenths a week or so ago said that he had read the new rules and it didn't say that the belts for club racing must be to FIA standard, and so have a five year life. So I think the best thing is to wait until you have the rule in front of you rather than risk wasting money.

Yep - MY thinking exactly Bob.
Mine are "FIA 1984" spec with only one label sewn on the lap strap (not on all belts) but think I should be fine for our level of racing.

Is there any news of any sort to report? Will the BARC Renaults have a separate stand at the Autosport show?

As the Formula Renault BARC championship is fully supported by RenaultSport UK, info will be available from wherever RenaultSport are based for the Autosport Internationsl Show

Calculations based on the number of drivers who dropped out/ moved on to other formulas suggest we need 5 new drivers to break even on numbers. This doesn't take into account movement between classes, as that doesn't affect overall numbers.
I noticed in Autosport last week that a young Worswick looks certain, and following conversations with Brian Fisher some months ago he looked likely for buying Anderson's car with the intention of his youngest driving in Barc.
Does anyone know of any more which look definate as opposed to simply asked questions about it?

That's interesting Jonny, I wonder if that means the three French guys who raced with Burdett last year have changed teams. Maybe Burdett can run 5 cars, seems a lot to do.

I've just been speaking with Brian Fisher, and he has brought the Jack Anderson car for his youngest son Felix to drive in BARC Renault.

A possibility is that they are racing for the newly formed Russell Racing, as I know that they are planning to run cars in both Formula Renault UK & BARC.

The answer to that is unlikly as the national class only had one car last year and the cleo too but the barc class was not really represented to my knowlage. renault sport bascally promoted the whole set up in one very small stand. i think this is dew to the excessively high price they require for a stand

Is that the car that was wrecked pre-season? What ever happened to Jack? what's he up to now?

That is the car, but I think "wrecked" was a bit of an overstatement, I think the guy had a couple of "average corners off" incidents in testing. I dunno what he's doing now, but I presume it isn't BARC Renault.

Fair enough, you may well be better informed. I was told it broke in two but it's only hearsay.

Hey does anybody know if any drivers have signed yet - I heard it's going to be a busy year. What is the calender - didn't Renault change it? If so, where can I find the new one?

I think that RenaultSport will start to send out Press Relaeses about Drivers who havev signed up. So far in Formula Renault BARC only a Press Release about David Scott, who will be driving in the FR2000 class.

The revised calendar is:

1 22nd April Silverstone National
2 29th April Snetterton
3 & 4 20th / 21st May Croft
5 & 6 25th June Snetterton (double header)
7 05th August Oulton Park Island
8 & 9 19th / 20th August Pembrey
10 16th September Thruxton
11 & 12 23rd / 24th September Brands Hatch Indy (with BTCC)

the race originally scheduled at Donington Park on 7th May will now take
place at Snetterton on Saturday, 29th April
