H16 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
When do you think Porsche will return to Le Mans?

A couple of factory backed GT cars are better than nothing, but does anyone have any idea of when Porsche will return with a full LMP program at Le Mans and/or ALMS?

I hope they build a GTP Coupe instead of a roadster, I hate those. A flat 6 again? They still "sort of" compete in Grand Am Prototypes with the Lola Porsche don't they?

They had an LMP900 that was tested by Allan McNish in 1999, but the program was cancelled after that one test.

I agree, the more LM - GT cars the better, i hate the open tops.

I think I have a very blurry black & white shot that was featured in Autosport at the time they announced the project would be canned, I'll have alook for it.

I seem to remember that it looked pretty similar to the Porsche WSC run by Joest in 96/97. The test drivers said that it was much better to drive than the GT1 '98.

I don't think Porsche will produce a works prototype car now until the new rules have been sorted out for 2004 by the ACO and the FIA and some sort of pattern has emerged for a sportscar world championship. Also they were not making any money when they pulled out in '99 and they are still trying to sell more road cars so I presume they won't be too keen on starting an expensive sportscar programme with everyone whispering about a resession!

Logan.
