Chassis & switching brands

I really don’t want this to turn into a debate about headlights, but can anyone tell me whether it is actually possible to convert an FG Falcon V8 Supercar into a VE Commodore V8 Supercar (i.e. it’d still have the same log book, etc)?

Obviously my curiosity is due to 888 not selling their FGs at the end of last season. The hint at the time seemed to be that you could convert a car over from one brand to another.

Surely not…

T8 has sold at least one of their FGs, to Jono Webb.

While you couldn't do it today, I think it's TC's grand plan to do exactly what you suggest...have a silouette body on a common chassis.

Don't know what the rules say but fabrication wise it could be done.

888 announced that they basically intended to incorporate the rollcage they had designed for the Falcons into their VEs. I believe the VE ride car 888 ran at Ipswich late last year may have actually been started with the intention of being an FG.

As part of Project Blueprint both cars are fairly similar to the extent that the VE is a 'cut and 'shut' job to have the same length wheelbase as the FG. But I would have thought different roof profiles, axle locations etc would probably rule out. But certainly most componentry, engine block excepted obviously, would be able to be transferred.

All the suspension has to be in the same spot. Biggest drama would be getting the panels hanging off the chassis. Both makes of caf are built off of two bits of 100 x 100 rhs. A little section of factory firewall and a bit of rear floor on the holden is the only factory input into the chassis.
