Entry full for the 6 already! As posted by JR on the previous thread.
Luckily Delta and YT are in, any other tenthers joining us for the big race? As a test / build up for car and team we are also entering the Autosport 3hr at Snetterton, hopefully that should show up any flaws....... Very much looking forward to both. |

we're nearing the end of basic shell resto on the Cortina, so this is (hopefully) a target comeback for PEA in the U2L fleet taxi race.

After six years and five finishes in MGB, TVR and Marcos decided to give it a miss this year, now it has become such a no holds barred V8 fest. If you are under 2 litres top 20 is now becoming out of reach let alone top 10
Les Remparts at Angouleme looks a nice alternative |

I always wanted to do the 6 hour in the Cortina but got the fear about 7 years ago because of the pace and size of everything else.
I suppose if I entered with a 2L precrossflow I'd be close tothe pace of the MGB's with similar specs |

It is another event that have always aspired to, so this year will be the ticking of that box. Having often been the smaller and slower car in other races (Escort with CanAm cars probably the ultimate!), the speed differential won't come as any surprise, and I've watched the race enough times to appreciate the risks. |

Are you sure? If so, I am surprised as Michiel is entered in this year's Dutch FIA championship in it, NKHTGT. He may be selling his other Grand Sport, which he built for last year's Historic East African Rally - yes a Grand Sport rally car.......

Does anyone have a provisional timetable for this event please? It just says 'coming soon' on the official site.
Hoping to book ferry / hotel etc this week and thinking of taking my MGB for its first foreign trip - and (taking into account my mechanical skills) it will be fingers crossed!!! Hence the reason for wanting to know the timings. If it's similar to last year then it would be qually on the Fridays and just racing both Sat & Sun - is that the norm for this event? Thanks. Gary. |

Hi all. Doing the 6 again this year in our Falcon. I notice they've put a 118db drive by noise limit on it this year? We ran unsilenced before. Anyone got any info?

I was chatting to a friend about the noise limits - he is involved in running a Corvette and on open pipes this was marginal at 118db. although I am sure that it depends on how you measure it.
The six hour details talk about it being measured on a drive by basis on the track which is not easy to test in advance compared to a static test. I am running a TR4 and am going to have my fingers crossed that it is under 118db unsilenced - my feeling is that it should do but then noise measurements can be unpredictable. |

My guess is there'll be a lot of "clutch dipping"at the noise check.

We got black flagged a few weeks back with a GT2running a works exhaust, one phonecall to the circuit is all it takes on certain days, very frustrating !!! |

Not just Spa- racing was stopped at a certain Dutch circuit very recently due to the noise level exceeding operating limits.....

Sorry, but if Motorsport is going to survive, and not be closed down by the environmental lobby then we have to be responsible an be seen to be acting within the limits. Abuse of limits is what got Mallory in a mess.
I hope to be involved in Motorsport for many years to come. I don't want to look back and lament the days when people were able to ignore limits to enjoy themselves but with an adverse consequence for the long term viability of the sport. 118db is actually a pretty generous limit. |

I'm with Andy over this. We may not like or agree with noise limits but they exist and we have no option but to comply. A few years ago, I clerked a meeting at Assen and half way through a race, the circuit director (who was not an official of the meeting!) just walked into race control and turned on the red lights, said "Noise Limits" and walked out!. Whatever the rights or wrongs of that action, we have no options and, as the Americans say, "You can't fight city hall".

Agree with both with both of you! The are certain circuits where noise limits are not a problem, but others where they most certainly are. If fitting a silencer means racing can continue to be enjoyed then so be it.......

Noise is a major pollution for many people and intolerable for some who WILL take the issue to a higher level.
At hillclimbs we have 108 max, all cars (ALL) are silenced and have been for 20+ years. My Club has it's own track ( www.hdlcc.com ) in a small hamlet/village, not miles away but in it. Even the tannoi gets risky. The village could close us down tomorrow if we step over the line. Indeed we had a scare a few years ago. If silencers (to reach the limits -1 dB) are imposed, then that is the future of the sport, or loose the venues. Nobody is saying silence to '0dB', just within operating limits. E cars will be silent ish. You also have to understand the difficulties to the venue noise of traffic and disruption locally too. Hence ' Please leave this venue quietly and respectfully' notices. |
