I think the response to that is.....yes with a grid of 12.
Although th publicity of Ebay stunt is quite good assuming it comes off. Could look bad if the reserve price is not met |

ahhh yes, I was suckered in by the zip height. save the money and have 3 more incident packed races with FF1600 boys.

Incident packed races Matt? But you race FF1600 at Combe
 hence why you aint bumped into me for a while there, I cant afford the carnage anymore! I'm about racing though.And no I bet there is alot more hidden costs in racing the Zip, Not worth the money. |

Well as I have a car anywhere. As saying to Matt Its not worth it as he also has a car and can do a few races etc for that. Cant see your point? If your a non racing punter, its good value for a couple of races. saying that there is still 21 hours to go so doubtful the cost will stay at £1020 plus like laodsaa... said probably lots of extras.

I think using e-bay is a great idea. However, the central idea behind it is not to sell a seat, it's to create PR, get people talking about the series. Seems to me it's done exactly that!

I think its a great idea too. Saw a few months back someone auctioning sponsorship space on his FF. Offered a respray in company colours, days out etc. Got near on 1.5k if I recall. Why not use it!

No4 this ebay tacktic worked well for a FRenault drive, and as you rightly say it has people talking. Now that the reserve price has been met - it is win win win for zip ford (could have been emabarassing if no-one bid)
As Richard has pointed out some guy auctioned space on his formula ford...which for the price of £3 per aution I am thinking about doing myself, as due to incident packed races I need a touch up on the old Body work. I am out at thruxton / Silverstone and Brands also richard I may race you yet this year. |

Erm I don't mean to sound thick ( but I'm probably going to!) but isn't the Zipford Championship supposed to be for young drivers just graduating from karts, you guys are really putting it down and you sound like experienced racers, I'm sure you wouldn't want some novice just out of karts charging round in the FF1600 series causing untold damage as they get used to the size, speed, grip levels and not to mention gear changes!
You guys should be backing this series as it will allow the younger drivers to hone their race craft and then come and give you boys a real run for your money!! |

Ebay FR seat.
Been there, done that, we advertised our last Renault drive before signing Wayne Clark, We were asking more money than MH but it didnt work for us, that said more people have heard of Zip Formula than JENSEN Motorsport but I did get lots of interesting offers via the "send seller an email function", fair play to them for having a go though, if it is posted up again you can take it was successfull for him.

no ones putting the Zip formula down. Tuscan, can you show me one comment in this thread that suggests putting the formula down.
People seem very quick to think people are putting this formula down Jensen, I think it was you FReanult drive I was watching bid on a couple of months ago. Caused a great stir on Ebay. got a lot of hits. |

The point I was trying to make was that this is a novice series. Everyone has to start somewhere and you (darcym) seem (from what you are saying) to be quite an experienced racer, so why would you wish to drop down to a beginer series

Good Point but to drive the zip in this ebay offer you need a national b licence. Anyway any formula has novices and veterans so...err...forgotten the point. but good idea to put it on ebay.

I think ZIP drivers the likes of Edward Redfern, Neil Doran, Sacha Hamm and Jamie Morrow who've all driven previously in FF 1800 Zetec, the latter two with top team JLR, would hardly call themselves novices. Mike Spencer, last years series winner, who's currently doing well in Formula Renault, might also take exception!! As would Ben Lewis who is currently lying second in the Formula Palmer Audi series.
True some of the ZIP drivers are fresh up from karts, Oliver Turvey springs to mind in this years series, Mike Spencer in last years, but they are some of the best young talent around and will undoubtably progress to FF national/FR and the like, rather than go in to FF1600 (with no disrespect to anyone driving in this FF1600's) As a point of detail, ZIP cars and FF1600 are not that much different in performance. For example the Castle Coombe lap records for Class A and B FF 1600's are 1.11.75 and 1.12.57 respectively, as compared to 1.13.26 for ZIP. |
