I am surprised and not surprised at the same
time how well Loeb is doing in his first Dakar.

Robby Gordon said on camera he will have to
rethink his Dakar program and that he probably wont be
back next year. That Gordini just seems snakebit.
Moreover, you have to make a lot of really good
decisions all the time . Gordon did not make a good
decision in a giant mud hole (I think in stage 2) and last
year made a bad decision in some giant sand dunes.
Throw in a penalty or 2 and your Dakar is toast.
Baja 1000 and stadium trucks probably better suits his style.

Yes - but that's to be expected with a works Peugeot team there. How much factory backing does that MINI have?

I don't think that X-Raid gets that much support. I think it's the sponsors.

Massive shame: was really hope he could continue to challenge through week two.

He made a mess of the Pug alright! He seems to have accepted that he can't possibly win now - although Loeb being Loeb you can bet he'll be on a charge. Podium still in reach?

I am surprised by Kamaz. So far they are not really up against Iveco and MAN.

By the way, Stéphane Peterhansl has been accused of refuelling in an unauthorised point. Peugeot claims that the refuelling points they used are authorised. Stay tuned...
