You can see from the final season when it all fell apart. Essentially the "Team Russia" and "Team China" entries weren't genuine entries.

Maybe they try to get Tarquini to drive for free+expenses, if not someone else will fill in with the same deal?

Not just GT1, that sort of thing happened in the old SuperTouring ETCC, before S2000 manufacturer entries came in. I know of at least one team that got under-the-table 'start money', and I'm sure they weren't the only ones.

5. Norbert Michelisz (Honda Civic WTCC), 1'53"591, 16 laps
6. Mehdi Bennani (CitroŽn C-Elysťe WTCC) 1'53"789, 41 laps
7. Ryo Michigami (Honda Civic WTCC), 1'54"522, 48 laps
8. Thed Bjork (Volvo S60 WTCC) 1'54"800, 32 laps
9. John Filippi (CitroŽn C-Elysťe WTCC) 1'54"805, 40 laps

In the afternoon were Girolami and Muller the two Volvo drivers not using official timekeeping sensors.
