Well that was nothing but stupid from the Audi driver, why on Earth did he not pull the car over?

He has got out under his own power though (as did the Porsche that collected him) so at least nobody got hurt.

I know its easy to say now after that accident has happened but should the code 60 have been out earlier? Glad both drivers are ok but this should never have happened.

It definitely should have been, the Audi was at a crawl for a good minute before it was smashed. It was on the main feed for the same time as well though, so the teams had enough time to warn their drivers.

Embarrassing how many drivers ignored the yellow flag and the Audi should have pulled off the track.

Hey

Things were great. One car was in P1 with 40 minutes more fuel than P2 when gearboxes blew up.

We had never raced with that much HP before and gearboxes couldn't take it. May have been we set shifts too hard. We'll fix it, beef them up and keeping racing.

Here is the state of the Optimum Audi. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Cd7HODaUIAAUk5V.jpg

Good to hear both drivers were ok and the Audi can be repaired without needing a new chassis.

I assume this is the best thread to mention this weekend's 24hrs of Silverstone?

Anyone else attending?

I've got tomorrow afternoon off work, so planning on catching the evening practice session.

It's live on Motors TV.

For a change it's fun to have an event without GT cars.

The entry list on the website seems to be about half the size they were boasting a couple of months ago. They were trying to get close to 80 cars at one point but the website now lists barely 40. Wonder what happened...!?

That's still less of a comparable lie than what the ill-fated Portimao 32 Hours kept saying last fall until it's demise.

No idea, might have been full season 24h-Series entrants that ended up not doing Silverstone?!

I remember when Sebring was ditched from WEC for 2013, and there was this rumor/suggestion brought up even by RLM that the Silverstone round was gonna be 12 hour race. That would've provided true night racing, and "bit" more faster paced too. But alas, no.

Well they had to keep some of the old Britcar traditions, and publishing a fantasy entry list seems to fit the bill
