safety is king these days. you cant do nothing without it.

brands is a lovely place. great track, but built in the wrong place (too far south for me) lol.

Rockingham (the twisty circuit) i feel would be a much better choice for the A1, its new, brilliant, and spectactors can see it all, all at once! would require no mods, and surely be cheaper.
im amazed no big races are run there, the potenial for the place is huge!!!
Rockingham had CART of course, and I was there, the last big race I have attended to date.Seems british fans do not care for this sort of thing, and even the Americans hate 'rovals'
Oh,and Wolverhampton to Brands does not seem far to me; I remember doing London to Oulton Park and back in a day,by train & bus in 1961.

What makes you say that? Where has anybody said this is the reason for him doing it?

Jamie Green said himself he's doing the DTM because Mercedes wanted him to do it.

If Mercedes didn't want Jamie to do the DTM presumably he wouldn't be in the team. I would imagine that Bernd Schneider, Mika Hakkinen, Jean Alesi and Gary Paffett are also "doing the DTM because Mercedes want them to do it". We're all Einsteins here aren't we!!

I've never seen any quote from Green saying he's doing DTM because Mercedes want him to. So therefore i assume it is for funding reasons. It makes sense he would rather do GP2 but cannot afford it so therefore chose (from his point of veiw) the second best option.

He's a Mercedes driver. His contract is with Mercedes. He will race in whatever championship Mercedes tell him to race.

To take this back on topic, the Brands A1GP race has been moved back a week to September 25th, to avoid clashes with BTCC, WRC and Goodwood.

TGP just confirmed to be on the A1GP package. Now this IS a top class meeting to go and watch, on the GP circuit too!

Stephen - have I missed something - what is TGP? Is it another acronym for "That German Person"? Or am I being really dumb?

As usual...,

Mathias, if you have never seen the TGP cars in action then make sure you come to Brands Hatch for the A1GP meeting. They are truly fantastic to listen to and watch. Nearly all cars are powered by the old V8 Cosworth engines.
