Interesting. So, which Arrows' chassis are they going use for the first races? What modifications are required such that it complies with the 2006 specs?

hazza I loved that livery when first saw it - I was so gutted when Pacific were an instant joke! I seriously think SA will do a better job. Now, if only they could actually think of a decent team name...

I don't think we yet know the official team name do we? I doubt it will be Super Aguri anyway. Honda Aguri maybe?

There are only 5 A22 Arrows in existence... hardly enough for Mr Sato, even if its only meant to be for 3 races

According to the Japanese Autosport magazine, Yuji Ide seems to become the second driver of Aguri F1.

So they're running old chasis from 2002, uprated to 2006 safety and tech specs......
Now that they're finally doing something about the bore that was qualifying and returning to many cars on track, I have to wonder if they're bringing back that pesky 107% rule that robbed us of some fine performances by the tail enders in years gone by......(well, in some of the wet races, maybe! ) If it is back, for the first few races we could be seeing this team on Saturdays only..... |

How high is the calibre of FNippon these days? A driver finishing 3rd then 2nd in F3000 or GP2 would be hot property, but I've never heard of Ide before.

have been doing it for a long time and continue to fight for wins and championships (Motoyama). But being Japenese there is a chance he was just in the Honda car which would have given him the edge over the competition. And looking at my "Stats" (Which are incomplete) it shows that Ide's team scored 5/7 victories with Ide getting 2, Motoyama 2 and ' B.Treluyer' getting a single one. Make of that what you will. |

I was under the impression that Anthony Davidson was due to drive for the team if it finally went ahead (despite re-signing with BAR/Honda for testing if it didn't come to fruition.)

I would be very suprised if Davidson had ever signed anything. I guess Honda could theoritically loan him out to the SA team, but I just can't imagine it somehow. Sato and Matsuura sounds much more likely in my view.

I can't imagine Matsuura being as good an F1 driver as Davdison, so it'd be a waste if he gets the drive. Also, what does this eman for Aguri's IRL team?

I hope Davidson gets the seat, but like Skam85, I would appreciate if our friend Rennen come and provide us with any valuable information.

I've heard rumours a guy called Yuji Ide from FNippon might be getting the drive.

Ide would be a interesting choice, he finished 2nd in Formula Nippon this year behind Motoyama and ahead of quite a few good drivers not least Richard Lyons and Andre Lotterer. Nippon is still quite a competitve championship, not quite perhaps at the same level as GP2 but maybe slightly higher than that of WSBR. If Ide got the drive I think he would do a good solid job.
