yes and when i went to give her a cuddle at brands and get my sweetie, can you believe SHE had forgotton them, so this creates two issues, 1. she got a cuddle & kiss for nothing. 2. has SHE been leading me along all these years.

all because the lady has wine gums........... or that should be had wine gums

She's never given me a sweetie! I had to steal some off her at Mallory - & that was after she'd dropped them in the paddock!

Marshals Forum
A place for anyone to meet and chat about the ins and outs of life as a marshal. Although this forum is intended for the marshals themselves, they are always pleased to speak to anyone who ventures in!

Much as I enjoy racing, I take greater pleasure somedays from the banter on post. There is nothing worse during a delay than to have a boring bunch around you!! Obviously I won't name names but we've all been there!!

My point is, marshalling is like being part of a large family. Some days we argue with each other but at the end of the day, we all still care for each other even if we don't always agree. Just don't forget........
Motorsport is Dangerous!!!

The person you slag-off in here today may be your back-up tomorrow???
There's enough back biting in the real world, we don't need it here. It's the old adage,....Don't like it??? Go elsewhere, it's a free world. (or so they keep trying to convince me!!)

Point well made and this is also true when a trainee arrives on post. In my experience (with an un-named exception) I have always been welcomed on post and joined in with the banter. Rather that putting potential Marshalls off this thread may actually encourage them.

Wow it's the weekend, I can be serious at work during the week!!

LOL - I go away for a few days and I come back to handbags at ten paces!

On a serious note, marshalling is a serious business a lot of the time, which is why humour is very important. I don't think I've ever seen a really serious thread "hijacked" - you may get a couple of humourous comments in the middle of a discussion, but I've always felt they serve to defuse any rising tempers and remind us that we do this because we enjoy it.

I do think that if anyone is interested in marshalling, they'll find a good mix of info here. If every thread was dedicated to how hard done by we are then I don't think anyone would stay for long - any more than they would if every thread was a ping pong match between Teletubby and Gonfra who REALLY need to get out more!

Moderation in all things my darlings, moderation in all things!

If it wasn't for ten tenths and some of the members I wouldn't be marshaling at all, it was the one place where, Stephen in particular, helped me to get all the info I needed to start. As the season has gone on I have been fortunate enough to meet quite a few of the marshals who post on here, it is nice to put a face to a name. We may go off the "serious" side of things in some posts but on the whole I have found this section of ten tenths to be very helpful.

Well said Claire, and you're not the only novice I've heard that from this season.
