Trivia

A new version of an old thread, from last off-season.
A few new questions, a few new answers.
Questions pertain to the history of CART, from 1979-2003.

Enjoy thinking about them for awhile...
I'll give a link to the answers in a few daze, and we'll see how you did!

1) Michael Andretti has the most starts, followed by UnserJr, and then...

2) Youngest driver to start a race?

3) Youngest driver to win a race? Scott Dixon took that honour away from Greg Moore. (Ryan Hunter-Reay has subsequently bumped Moore out of 2nd). But from whom did Moore steal the record?

4) According to the clock, which was the longest race staged?

5) The shortest?

6) Race(s) with the largest starting grid?

7) Smallest starting grid?

8) Least amount of cars running at the end?

9) Driver with most laps led in a season?

10) Driver with most starts, without a win?

11) The three drivers with most wins, without a championship?

12) Race winner with the lowest grid position?

13) Which circuit has hosted the most CART events?

14) Zanardi chalked up six consecutive poles.
Which two drivers were able to land five-in-a-row?

15) Driver with most poles in a single season?

16) Youngest driver to sit on pole?

17) Driver with most consecutive podiums?

18) Team with most starts without a win?

19) Longest winning margin, on a non-oval track?

20) Most different leaders in a race?

CURSES! I was going to say Raul Boesel but I thought it was a "stupid guess" (Like the rest)

"Coyne's got 233 so he's safe for now."

Where can I buy a T-Shirt with the MacDaddy logo?

One thing I always thought interesting (although I havn't looked up the stats) is that when Boesel drove for Simon they were a couple of the best years for either. Still no wins but quite competative. Must have been the Duracells.

Here's another trivia question:

Oriol Servia currently holds the record for most DNFs in a single season. From whom did he "steal" this record?

Helio Castroneves DNF'd 13 times in 1999 and Michel Jordain Jr. tied that in 2000. OUCH!

Mr. Bell was fired before he could reach that many DNFs. Castroneves took that title from Gil de Ferran, who had 12 DNFs in 1998 in the Walker Racing Diecast that only once made him say a naughty word on TV ... when the reporter said "Oh, too bad" or something similar, Gil answered, "No, the car was anyway."

OK here's one that I have absolutely no idea what the correct answer is. Put on your research caps, give the answer and back it up.

What is the greatest number of pit stops made in a Champ Car race while still taking the win?

Good question, Flatspot. And a rather difficult one to research!
As a blind guess, I'd offer MGF's victory at (Toronto?)
IMO, that result was one of the biggest farces in CART history.
