Any Grand Prix in history, which would you choose?
Let's have a bit of fun.
If you were given a DeLorean that at 88mph transported itself to a different timezone, what Grand Prix in history would you attend? I have been to every British GP event since 1984, so won't be saying 1993 Donington race again. Although to relive it again with hindsight would be simply staggering. Maybe change my viewing point to the Craners. I'd like to say 1985 Portugese GP or the 1993 Australian GP because they were 1st and last of Ayrton's wins. Possibly even Monaco 1988 for his qualifying run or Monaco 1992 for Mansell versus Senna. 1979 Watkins Glen GP would be special, certainly for Villeneuve's 11secs a lap faster qualifying lap, or Dijon in 1979 too. But I think I would love to have witnessed Nuvolari's legendary 1935 race at the Nurburgring, where he beat the German teams in a car that didn't belong on the same circuit really. As legend has it, he had to supply the Italian national anthem because the organisers had assumed the winning car would be German. A Nurburgring, with trees and grass verges surrounding the track, no guard rail in sight |

1990 Detroit GP always sticks in my mind, the great Alesi/Senna battle. I've always had a soft spot for Tyrell and desperately wanted the young rookie to hold the master at bay.

The 1990 US GP was at Phoenix, not Detroit, but I know what you're talking about.
I'll have to give this one some thought. |

Also saw Brian Henton destroy his Toleman at the chicane during qualifying. Last edited by White flag man; 31 Mar 2010 at 01:06. |

Villeneuve didn't make it much further and pulled off at Stowe. |

Argentina 1974. To lurk in the pits and fill 2 gallon extra of gas to Reutemann's fuel tank before the race.

Numerous old Spa races spring to mind.
But the Monaco GP 1970 stands out for me. P |

I agree with a lot of the choices already made.
Just to add one more the Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka in 2005 when Kimi won the race by overtaking Fisichella going into the first corner on the last lap. I'm still not quite sure how he did it because according to a team source his entry speed on that lap was 15 km/h faster than before. It was also the race in which Alonso overtook Schumi around the outside of 130R. |

I'd go to any Grand Prix in the 60s and offer Jim Clark a drive in my futuristic-looking DeLorean in exchange for a go in his Lotus.

94 Australian GP.
On lap 35, I would unveil my huge banner saying "DAMON - DO NOT OVERTAKE THAT GERMAN FELLA". |

If we're going back to the 60s, then definitely Monaco and the Nurburgring in 1961 -Moss taking on and beating the more powerful Ferraris simply due to his virtuosity - and the races lasted for nearly 3 hours.

As a swede born too late i would like to visit the 1978 Anderstorp GP.
The last on swedish ground, Ronnie Petersons drive from 17th to 3rd and the Brabham BT46s with the fans. |

For me, it would have to be Monza 1971, a great slipstreaming battle with multiple lead changes and the top five finishers separated by less than a second. |

Nurburgring 1957, but I would have needed a helicopter to follow the race in that track in that year.
Whats funny about this thread is that not only the people would go to past GPs in the DeLorean, but also they would influence on past time events... Dr. Emmett 'Doc' Brown: Don't talk to anyone. Don't touch anything. Don't do anything. Don't interact with anyone. And, try not to look at anything. I wonder if they would also bring the 1950-2000 Sports statistics Almanac... France 79, Monaco 82. It is interesting that everyone seems to be choosing at least one different race from the next person.
