should bring in spectators and fans by the truckload, far better than those nasty V8's. What the hell are they thinking ???????????????? |

As you know, historically Nissan released the Pulsar GTiR -- nicknamed the "baby Godzilla". It featured AWD, a turbo and even indvidual throttle bodies. A real rally beast. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IQvSSOIswCE These days Nissan have released a Sentra (Pulsar) Nismo, albeit it has the looks, bucket seats etc but not the sportier 210bhp engine of the modern Juke Nismo... instead making do with 188bhp. It's a lower priced vehicle than the 300-350 bhp Civic Type R, Levorg, Focus RS or Audi S3 class of vehicle which are quite a lot more expensive than the Sentra Nismo. Anyway, Supercars will run 670bhp, considerably more than the BTCC's 400bhp too. However, I am concerned and disappointed that downsized racing V6 turbos sound TERRIBLE compared to V8s. That's a real pity. |

Depends a lot on which way they go with intake and exhaust on the V6 turbo. Could sound unreal, for all we know.

Hahaha, you're funny. Experience says that making a V6 Turbo good is pretty much impossible.
Ford GT Ecoboost https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eh4VQjz-WhA (just awful, sounds like indigestion) Nissan GTR GT3 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ErapiECM1A (farty) Honda NSX GT3 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQDIfjm-PZI (quiet, whooshy, farty) There is just no comparison to the sound of a crossplane or flatplane naturally aspirated V8. Status quo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uj8HtOYV7hc (what a sound! entertaining Bazza and Shazza on the hill since '93 ) Mercedes Erebus https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EFmpLAliiuA (symphonic!)) Volvo Polestar https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vQ3jXFJMVrc (yowzah!) Ferrari 458 GT3 takes on hillclimb https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HjCAxVVI4KE (Wow!!!) |

Jimmy W said there would be a minimum decibel level that engines would need to meet. I'm sure it will turn out alright.

I'm sure the blat of a turbo'd 4 will excite far more than the roar of a V8. |

Better to run the engine and have a group of spectators and marshals standing by. If they smile, it qualifies! Given the choice between a solitary silenced V8 hillclimb car and a full field of F3s, I don't think I'd be putting on a CD of the F3s... |

Quite simple really, regardless of how much development is done the new car will still be a bit of an unknown going into 2018. By having one existing spec car, it will allow the team to benchmark changes against the incumbent in a live rather than simulated environment.
With no financial incentive to do so, the other Holden teams were never going to bin their current hardware in a hurry. To date with no one entertaining the idea of running a Gen2 car it has been a moot point, but once homologated could the new car actually be raced this year, given that the original timetable was for new cars this season? If so and if one of the 888 drivers slips out of championship contention, 888 may elect to get some race miles on board the new car. This would also be dependent on when Holden intend to unveil the road car. |

Let's face it; uptake on the Gen2 ruleset has been quite underwhelming.
Although it's only allowing greater freedom of bodystyles and engines, the manufacturers involved in the series have not really jumped at it. Sure, Holden have declared they'll be running a new body and engine next year, but Nissan are sticking with what they've got, and Ford likewise. I would not be surprised if the V6TT engine is dumped before the year's out. |
