Scorchess has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
I kept hearing the Taylor brothers were such great talents but they've both been absolutely terrible in traffic today

Being a great talent doesn't make you perfect. But being a great talent will get you race wins and championship leads. I'm not a huge fan of the Taylors overall, but I'm not going to pretend they haven't been brilliant just because of a rough race (that they're still sitting second in, and could win).

The series regulates boost pressure throughout the rpm range which also plays into torque curves.

Is this supposed to be sarcastic or ignorant?

Everyone out there knows how difficult it is to pass here with no real braking zones or room on the track at such high speed. Then keep in mind that the GT cars are actually defending their lines against LMPs into the corners, so that they do no lose time in their own races.

You should watch the race. Twice now the Taylors lost the lead because the guy in the JDC car was just better in traffic. In clean air the Caddy is simply faster.

The engine isn't weak overall right now - it just struggles to nip by traffic.

If you find a way to engineer a small 2L 4 cylinder turbo charged engine to produce the same amount of torque as 6.2L V8, then you'll have a queue of customers at your door wanting some of that. Remembering that these cars are meant to be road relevant in terms of engine layout and car styling, it makes sense for the Mazda to be running the small engine they are. If they had to run a massive V8, then they wouldn't be here as it doesn't fit the Mazda philosophy. It's also why Nissan has a V6 - happens to be the same as the GTR.

In clear air, the ORECA is faster. It has the fastest lap by half a second and closed 10 seconds after the first pit stop, even in clean air. You should watch the race.

I get all that. So they are just hoping to be BoP'd up to the Caddy then?

again, sarcastic or ignorant? Or both...

The car that is following always looks better in traffic. The leader always loses the most time in traffic. And the Caddy isn't faster....Ricky Taylor said as much. The yellow car is faster in clean air.

We also have to remember that Speedsource hasn't been a winning team since the whole Mazda 6 diesel deal. They were successful enough when they had the RX-8s, but nowadays, you could give them an Audi R18 or Porsche 919--full blown LMP1 cars--and they'd still probably screw themselves out of a win.

They shouldn't have to hope for it - The DPi regulations have always been advertised as a BoP class. The reason for that is just this - to allow road car manufacturers to translate their road car philosophy to a top racing class, without being forced to converge on the same format of a big engine. Unfortunately, BoP isn't as simple as some think and it's quite hard to get rid of the torque the Cadillac has.

We may not like BoP, but DPi is a BoP class, whether any of us like it or not.

My opinion is that BoP is impossible in a prototype class when you want manufacturer involvement and this just proves it.

My question is mainly, if it really is a factory team surely they would find some other way to negate their disadvantage?
