Pretty cool to see Pappas and Bleekemolen sharing a car again also.
On a related note, it's Kind of a shame that Cadillac didn't call up Jan Magnussen for the #3 car.

Good times, the old days.

I didn't know GTS has an amateur category now as well??

The TC classes races should be a hoot too with 55 cars listed!

VIR is made for multiple classes racing and might very well be the highlight of the year.

Also, you can't be platinum for GTS Pro, only Gold.

Here's how it goes with the classes this weekend at VIR:

Sprint X (entries)
GT Pro/Pro (12)
GT Pro/AM (13)
GT AM/AM (4)
GTC Pro/AM (2)
GTC AM/AM (1)
GTS Pro/AM (2)
GTS AM/AM (3)

GTS Pro (8)
GTS AM (10)
TC (32)
TCA (15)
TCB (8)

You have 12 classes that are running two races for this event. Thus you'll have 24 winners which becomes 72 podium finishers. There will be 222 finishers (assuming all 111 cars show up). So, approximately 33% of the finishers will be on the podium.

It is a thumbs down that there are no Mustangs in GTS for this event.

Per Mike Skeen, Mike McCann is unable to race this weekend and will be replaced in the #82 Audi by Andrew Davis, moving the car up to Pro/Pro.

Jeff Courtney and JCR Maserati topped GTS Qualifying, followed by Nico Jamin (ANSA XBow) and Rodrigo Baptista (Flying Lizard Porsche).

GT qualifying was MEGA!
A late flyer from Mike Skeen put the McCann Audi ahead of Ryan Dalziel's Mercedes.
Todays race should be a good one.

many teams had mistakes in the minimum pit stop times. I don´t like that rule.

Horrible race.
I think Sprint-X could have worked If they had kept the tire changes w/out the minimum pitstop times. But that was just a complete mess.

It's amazing. LeMons, Chumpcar and AER all have minimum pit stop times and that seems to work like a champ. You'd think that just using an EZ Pass with a transponder at the beginning and end of pit road would be suffice. Have T&S with a pit in timer that goes on when you cross pit in. Since you can't go faster than 60km/hr it's not hard to figure out from pit to pit out as to how long it takes. There's a thing called practice and that's what you do.

In some of those bare bones races with $500 cars, they use an EZ-Pass type sticker that goes on your helmet. Thus, they know who is in the car and when they passed pit in and pit out. Just like we do in a foot race, tri or cycling. you can go blowing past a transponder in cycling way over 60km/hr and it works. Plus it works in other series'. I've even done a few relay tri's and the transponder works in the water, on a bike and running. In running or cycling it's a cheap bib with a transponder built into it.

Seems like USAC screwed this up and like any regime change, they know better and thus, screw half the field because they are not prepared of just look at some other series and ask, "How do they do that?" Just contact a T&S company that does running. The tape a bib on the left side of the car then stick a pickup on the left side of pit road.

Yep. Hopefully CRP and Wright get a chance to finish their battle in today's round.

Great GTS race today. Nico Jamin & Jeff Courtney trading lap times was brilliant, though not nearly as good as the battle between Ian James and Lawson Aschenbach. That last lap pass was a good one! Awesome to have Panoz take a podium again.

A shame both Lizard cars ran into trouble, especially after Baptista was running so strong early.

Yes, great race! A Panoz on 3rd; when was the last time a Panoz was on the podium in a major race?! ... and that Maserati GT4 driven by Courtney really flies

Just saw the result, great weekend for the Panoz!

Also saw the list of stories on s365 outlining all the penalties and confusion at the end of the races this weekend. Race control is a tough job, but I don't think the series will a lot of support in its paddock with this performance.

Good news is today's race was much better, despite 2 FCYs/ending under yellow. Hoping everyone's ok from the second yellow.

Really great to see CRP Racing back on the top step of the podium, it's been a while for them. Really impressed with Daniel Morad in the first stint, holding off Jeroen Bleekemolen in the same car is no small feat.

Good rebound for the series. Other than the two cautions, the racing was competitive and much more enjoyable.
With such a stellar field of GT3 teams, PWC has so much potential.
