So I guess that when the new GT3 Gallardo proves to be reliable a few teams will upgrade it to GT2 specs. Slowly moving up |

Last week Reiter Eng. test the new Gallardo LP560 GT3 AND GT2 at HTTT. The GT2 was faster as the CR Scuderia F430GT2.

Is that the GT2 based on the GT3 with the upgrade kit or the GT2 run before?

The LP560 GT3 must be behind in development, if I remember correctly they had planned to enter the car for the last FIA GT3 race this season, but it's a no show on the entry list (or any Lamborghini for that matter!)

There was no plan to race the LP560 GT3 in the European Championship, because it is still not homologated.

I agree with Fire, GT2 is the class to be in. Instead of an all out factory team (like Corvette racing) what about following the Porsche model with factory drivers and engineering support? It's my understanding that GT racing is an actual profit center for Porsche - am I wrong on this?

How many RSRs did Porsche sell in the last few years? There are not as many Porsches on the grid as there used to be. The Ferrari numbers must be good but under 10 cars in the last year since things have been kinda slow. Very often, these projects end up with total production numbers under 10. Current exceptions are very few.

I remember a number of 30 or 35 997 RSRs being produced in one of it's early years, but production numbers might be lower by now.
Porsche's real cashcow (racingwise) must be the standard Cup-cars, which aren't produced at Weissach but on the regular assembly line in Zuffenhausen. |

Porsche releases the eact numbers of Spyders, RSR, Cup S and Cup cars they are going to build each year, and I seem to remember 35 being the RSR number for 2009, and 25 for the year before. So I'd assume about 25-35 RSRs have been sold each year for the last 3 years or so, which is quite a lot. The number of Cup cars is in the 100 car range each year, which is their real money maker. There might not be many RSRs in FIA-GT, but think about GT Open and VLN and all other series the car can race in.
EDIT: Ultimatecarpage tells 35 where built for the 2007 season also. |

VLN isn't really a factor anymore. For a while you had to have an RSR to be competitive, but since the organizers allowed GT3 cars and made them competitive for the overall win, they have fallen out of favor with the teams and I supposse no one will run one next year.
