With Will Davison at potential non-starter at Phillip Island, presumably Jono Webb will take the reins of #19. But I bet before the ambulance had even left the circuit, Russell Ingall was up at Tekno sprucing his credentials.

No issue with that.

Someone has to drive it.

Depends on the status of the car maybe if the car is in a critically bad state they may do a deal like Team 18 did with Kostecki Brothers Racing. But at this point in time if Davison is ruled out and the car ready I would assume Jono Webb will be in the car at PI

The Dunlop Series is running at the Phillip Island meeting, along with the Kumho Series I might add (the first triple-header in the history of the championship). I think that would rule out a car coming from there since I doubt any of the teams in that championship have a spare car, and they won't be able to have a Dunlop driver running in both championships if it's a sprint round AFAIK. I imagine that could rule out most of the competitive Super2 drivers/cars at least since they'd be compromising their own championship bids. The same might apply to the Carrera Cup, which would rule out guys like Heimgartner, Wall and McConville.

Can't run Super2 and the main game on the same weekend, unless you're nominated as the B driver in the enduros.

As has happened before, nothing stopping Tekno from borrowing a Super2 driver and car. You would assume that perhaps Kurt Kostecki would fit the bill again, if that;s the direction they want to take.

Has anyone else heard the rumour that Erebus are set to run Ford's next year due to the new Holden. I saw it in another forum and a lot of people are saying its quite solid. Something about Betty having issues with the fact that Holden teams have to deal with Roland Dane instead of the manufacturer itself. Supposedly DJR are looking at linking a deal with them. It wont be with PRA.

Would expect most of the Holden teams to continue with their existing cars next year and let 888 go through the development pain. It may be a rare opportunity for them to strike with 888 more vulnerable while it beds down the new model.

Maybe Erebus are looking at a developed car perhaps, while the Holden's could potentially struggle next year with the 6, a V8 may be the option for Betty. I found it its on V8 Central. A fair few people are saying she is also against running a 6 In her team. May be true, may not be

A lot of dreamers frequent that place.

You can usually spot them in the comments on social media, trotting out their fanciful versions of how things are playing out.

One individual was adamant Dick (Johnson?) and Roger (Penkse?) had a wildcard in the works, driving a prototype Mustang. You couldn't make this crap up...

Was Dick going to drive it, or Roger?

Be sure that all the Holden teams (which remember make the bulk of the field) will be sorted and competitive, no matter what they need to change to suit.

And the way 2017 looks to be panning out, a certain other team will likely be hobbled.

Wouldn't mind betting VF Commodore will be ineligible for VASA in 2018..

Gone are the days of running AUs alongside BAs, and hybrid VYs.

How advanced are 888 in their build of the test Insigniadore? Once done, then it needs aero testing, engine parity etc. I really don't see 888 getting all the work done and customer car or kits built for 16 entries if all teams stay as they are now. I fully expect the majority of Holden teams to at least start 2018 with the VFII and V8, and as such, it will be allowable for most, if not all of 2018. After all, it is more current than the FG-X, and everything points to that being allowed in 2018.

IF 888 have a few of the new car ready for next year's Clipsal - ooops - Castrol, the entire grid could theoretically be made up of cars dropped from manufacturers ranges, or net yet added to them. I don't expect the new Commie to be on the market in the first quarter of 2018 as things stand right now.

The Altima when it entered was in the same situation as the new commodore in 2013, it's clipsal debut came before the Altima hit the Australian market

The question has to be how many current teams shall continue to run Holdens next season.

888 built 7 CotF Commodores for the market by the start of 2013, the 2x LDM, 1 1/2 Tekno, 3 for themselves.. and more during the season.

Not impossible to do... and it has been very quiet around this as well..

They don't need to build cars for anyone.

They do however, need to be able to supply the engines and bodywork for those choosing to run a Holden.

Well we know Walkinshaw are actively pursuing alternative engine options to avoid the 888 monopoly so I'd be surprised if they went that route, but they might not have many options as time runs out.

I think they are aren't they given that there is a new model, may be wrong but I think Ford can apply to continue to use the FGX as there isn't a replacement yet. Not sure on that though

This has come from Jimmys Fab Shop Facebook page. Interesting to see that this is happening given that apparently they work with a lot of Holden teams.

We've had a great few years of making some fantastic components and being involved in projects for people that will be proud memories for the rest of our lives. I'd like to thank everyone that has either actively been a part of our journey and those whom have just followed passively as well.
Our love of both going racing and building race components has not diminished over time. Personally (Jimmy) I have spent the last 12 months being both a busy fabricator at JFS and an active part of Erebus' Supercar program. This has been an immense amount of work and has giving myself nothing but satisfaction. I can see the path the team wants to go down and find it inspiring as a racer at heart. Having had discussions with the key personnel there and our proud teams owner Betty at erebus motorsport we have decided that the best thing moving forward is to wind up JFS and focus on helping get Erebus further up the grid (hopefully). For those of you still wanting things made / repaired etc, we are still capable of performing them, however everything moving forward will be prioritised differently and for the benefit of all we will have the increased resources that a bigger and better structured organisation can offer.
I thank you all again and hope we get to see you all continuing to support us and what we are doing by getting over to Erebus Motorsport V8 and joining the page or signing up to be a member of the Erebus Motorsport Club if you aren't already.

Jimmy
