That was a very enjoyable race. Lots of good clean racing.
The couple of cautions were handled well and the track crews did a quick efficient job clearing debris and stranded cars.
Congratulations to James Davison and the A-E Nissan team on their victory!
Looking forward to the second race tomorrow, as well as the second GTS race that starts in about 15 minutes.

It's called a challenge. Something you don't find from these modernized carparks you mention. I rather have tidious FCYs than zero challenge. People in North America should be happy about their situation as they are still rather blessed.

Gravel and grass also act as automatic & objective stewards for visiting those areas, so unlike with asphalt you don't need to have people watching CCTV monitors and inconstantly penalizing or not penalizing people for blatantly doing constant off track violations.

Silverstone 6 hours couple of weekends was a great event, as I said earlier maybe the best in few years, but married by horrible shortcut abuses all day long and only the overall race leader ultimately being picked for politically influenced penalty for abuse no worse than any others. The rest were treated with 'oh whatever' attitude.

Anyway if you are referring to VIR as positive solution, with only grass being used, well I agree with that sentiment. Certainly for that type of track.

Pure asphalt runoff is only beneficial in a testing scenario. Much beyond that, it doesn't offer as much protection as many assume.

Yeah the only exhaustively asphaltized track I like is Paul Ricard, because it's primarily still used for testing and only partially for racing, and such widely open area offers numerous layout configurations for different kinds of runs. They've also sort of tried to make the off areas worse for the tires as well as tried to camouflage the grayness of it all with blue and red. Other than that the Southern French background scenery is nice But still, you can still have the above mentioned violating going on there.

Not just in real world, whenever I play sims I just skate around at PR without danger like in any modern track because I can, and then switch over to old school circuit and end up in kitty litter after being too confident.

It's like the difference between manual and automatic transmission, once you get too used to AM...

The Fields could be bigger than 20 cars . Just remember it only takes 1 driver to make a Stupid mistake OR Brain Lapes to ruin the day of others !!

I don't think the series intended to go overtime, just a slight unforced error on the part of race control. A bit embarrassing for them, but not the first time a racing steward made a misstep.

Yesterday's race was a pretty good one. Cautions were dealt with in a timely manner, and the racing was pretty good. Very well done.
