8. It's okay that Rosberg or Hamilton wins IMO, but Bottas took his first podium!

Not a bad race, particularly from the point of view of strategy, especially with Mercedes v Williams and Hamilton v Rosberg. The first round of pitstops were far from routine, bringing some unexpected excitement. I've always liked the setting of the Austrian GP and glad it's back on the calendar. 7

Back to the boredom of 2014. Why can't all the racing be in Montreal!
A three our of ten for me. One point for Bottas on the podium. One point for the nice Austrian countryside and one point Ricciardo's pass on Hulkenburg. The rest was just tedious. |

3.
Love the track, love the scenery, and was happy to see DRS not dominating. Still, regardless of that, it just wasn't a great race. Didn't help that I was tired, and already knew the result, though. Selby |

Just cannot understand that viewpoint - whilst the television direction occasionally missed the point, I saw tactical battles, some wheel to wheel racing, a brilliant first lap from Lewis and a race-long pursuit.
Was going to give it 7 but swayed to 8 by the appreciation for a proper circuit.... |

Gave it an undeserved 7. Magnificent circuit, I really like this track, electric start by Lewis, limp wristed effort by Williams after a stunning quali, the rest was pretty mundane.

I really like the track, the aura about it. I couldn't believe how much I actually missed that track after all this time. Much better than those Tilke tracks. The European segment was always fun to watch....the extended Hockenheim bush track, Magny-Cours, Spa, the Italian GPs. I really don't care for the new tracks, the new scene. Anyway, I gave it a 7.

8 from me. Particularly biased because of the step-change in performance from the Williams cars, plus Hamilton's first-lap dash through the pack. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Only saw the highlights but stayed awake, even though I watched them near midnight. I like the track - hate that seriously naff rusty-looking bull though......
Quite enjoyed it, actually. 6 |

7. Love the track. It just lacked some wheel-to-wheel racing for the lead - which looked like it might happen at one point.

A 7 from me. A pretty good race. Lewis' charge and Mercedes jumping the Williams and Force India of PĂ©rez was enjoyable. There was some pretty good racing without DRS dominating.
Can't say that I'm a fan of the track, as I think it is a bit to stop/start what with the nature of some of the corners, plus it does seem a bit too neutered compared to old. Still - it is better than a lot of Tilke's other tracks - and has elevation change. Scenery is great as well. Good to see Williams back on the podium - and also there good performance in qualifying. Maybe next year they can get back to their winning ways with a Mercedes engine? |

The stop-start nature almost seemed to hinder overtaking slightly.
I wonder what'd happen if you opened up those 90 degree corners ever so slightly...? Probably easier DRS passes. Selby |

This was a good race. We didn't see the decisive overtakes, with wheel banging and fireworks, but the competition between Mercedes and Williams was quite good and kept everyone on the edge of chairs until Mercedes leapfrogged Williams thanks to well timed pit stops. Before last weekend, no one even expected a fight between Mercedes and Williams.
Moreover, it looks like the ambient was great. This probably was the best race for the fans at the track. |

I went to the Austrian GP years ago. It is a great place to watch a GP. Chose the right grandstand and you can see most of the track. The view when the cars aren't going round is pretty good too. And it is a wonderful part of the world. Worth going even when the GP isn't on.

We were in the turn one grandstand and the views excellent. I wonder if they still roast chickens under the grandstand. It was a good trip, spent a relative fortune on that trip (still a student), and it included 27 hours on a coach getting there.
The blast up the hill is fun to watch, as was Montoya's futile defence on his Michelins. |

7. A great return, many leaders, but somehow unsatisfied.
