Would a £1995 tony kart viper be good for tkm like a competative kart with a tal ko direct drive engine
How much does it cost for paulcarrracing to transport and prepare your kart

youd finish last because all of the racers in super 1 are the best of the best, and have years of experience on you! trust me, i aint joking!

2k for a tonykart is a little steep for your first kart id say around 1000-1500 would be better, depends on the kart though. in terms of paul carr, they wouldnt touch your kart unless your in super 1 or based down south.

like i said, go to the track, find out when theyre racing and go watch/talk to people and get an idea of what classes race there, theres no point in buying a kart if they dont run that class at warden law

i dont know of any in the north east that could run you, no offence but NO super 1 team would touch your kart until youve proven yourself by winning several races at club level and you would be only able to get into super 1 after about 2 years karting at club level first.

do yourself a favour, save the money youd waste on getting a team to run you and spend it on new tyres etc...honestly until your up to speed which will take AT LEAST a 6-8 months youd just be throwing your money away, trust me, ive been there, done that, got the t shirt!

What tools do you need to run a kart and how hard is it coz my dad would only be able to go to some races because it's difficult for him to get time off work

well for a start at club level you onlt race once a month at a weekend...so once every 4 or 5 weeks aint bad for you dad to get time off work. in terms of tools you just need a standard tool kit from machine mart....just spanners, screw drivers, sockets, alen keys....the standard stuff. you will also need a couple of specialist kart tools like a pop off tool for the carbs/ tyre tongues and bead breaker to change the tyres over....in total it will all come to about 200 quid.

its not difficult to run a kart but again it depends what class you race in. 4 stroke arts are easy because they dont require much engine maintenence, 2 strokes require carb rebuilds and engine rebuilds every 10 hours...about 5 race meetings..but you can get them done professionally for about 200 quid which is what i do!

most of kart maintenence is checking bolts are tight etc, the only time you really have to do something is when you have an accident!

again get to your local track and see what classes they run, or if they doa hire kart championship, then you wont have to buy a kart or maintain it while you learn the ropes!

Adam you blatantly dont have the correct attitude for karting and are setting yourself up for a big fall if the way you react to the sage advice being given on here is anything to go by. I suggest you modify your approach, show a bit more humility and even go as far as to say thankyou to those patient people taking time to answer your questions - otherwise I am going to remove your posts.

ahhh hes just headstrong ghinzani....i remember being 14 and didnt listen to anyones advice either LOL!!!!...do me a favour adam, go onto the karting.co.uk website, they have a forum on there where there are hundreds of knowledgable people from karting dads to club racers, super 1 drivers, team managers etc..they will tell you all you need to know about racing, what you will need to do etc, with a hell of a lot more experience than me. plus there are several racers from warden law on there, maybe they could let you try their kart on a test day for a few laps to show you what a proper race kart can do!...trust me theyre not the same as a hire kart, theyre about 3 times the speed and tear the skin off your face LOL!

Theres a couple on there recently driving him nuts - Driftingjakegontier I think was one, had the worse spelling ever and only spoke txt speak. The other one is Alex Macaul. Im sure both are trolls just to wind him and Brian P up, which in itself is hilarious.

I think it's PaulM-Rotax who upsets itpro the most at the moment, mind you it seems to vary !

Adam. I would definitley steer away from Super 1 Rotax, maybe S1 TKM would be good after a years racing at club level. You can pick up a decent Direct Drive 'DD' TKM kart for the money that ascarracinguk has mentioned on here. The market place over on UKKarting usually has several TKM outfits for sale.

Spend a while researching as mentioned here and decide from there, but definitley visit some meetings and get talking to people .

I think you need to contact them yourself, phone them up and tell them how good you are. Say what races you have competed in etc.

Any team nationwide will take you on, as long as you have the money.

I dont think you can enter Super1 as a novice,

Just to though another spanner in the works...

You can't start in super 1 even if you want to. Super 1 requires a national A licence. You can only upgrade to that once you have done at least 6 national B race meetings (and finished them all on the results sheets) after your ARkS test.

Adam

Don't go to Paul Carr, you'll pay through the nose and I think they tend to only take drivers with a track record anyway.

There are plenty of smaller teams that will be cheaper and provide you with much more in the way of coaching and bringing you on as a driver.

Your next steps should be:
  • find out where your local track or tracks are and when the next meeting is
  • go to the next meeting and speak to as many TKM drivers / teams as you can. Saturday is better than raceday as they'll have more time
  • also apeak to the club themselves as they will know who's who and will give you plenty of advice aswell
  • stick a post on UK karting asking who knows of a team at your local track that will rent you a kart for a testday
  • organise a testday so that you can make sure kartings for you - mid week would be better than a weekend as you'll get more tracktime
If you do the above you'll answer most of your questions and be ready to look at doing your ARKS test and begin racing.

Before you can think about talking to a large S1 only team you need to find a smaller team who you can do your 6 club level reces with to allow you to upgrade your licence. Before all of that you need to sit your ARkS test!

S1 KF3

How hard are they to drive quick and compete in the series?
How much does it cost a season (including tires fuel ect but not including race suits ect and entry)?

Joining KF3

How close to the lap record at warden law in a hire kart would you have to be to be competative in KF3 (lewis hamilton was 8 tenths when he first went)?
How much does it cost for a super 1 season?
Can you do an arks test and enough races to geta national A licence then be competative at S1 KF3?
