A bit of an endurance.

You know me, I love a good endurance race, but you can definitely have too much of a good thing:

WEC Silverstone 15-17 April 2016

24hours of Silverstone, 1-3 April 2016

Pretty much means I'm going to have to choose. 2 three-day endurance races in a fortnight doesn't make sense, especially at a time of year when the weather is likely to be cold, dark and wet.

You do have to wonder, sometimes.

I did the two this year. Both weekends were indeed cold, dark and wet.

WEC for me as well - no contest between them

Nor with the BTCC.

The 24hrs clashes with their 1st round at Brands, and the WEC with the 2nd round at Donington.

More great planning by someone ..... not!

Agreed.

The really stupid thing is that they're two events that appeal to pretty much the same people and I imagine many spectators will be making the same choices.

I completely fail to understand how anyone thinks this is a good idea. Lets have the International Trophy back to the traditional May Day week-end and the 24 hours sometime* when it's not likely to pee down all night and be so cold that the brass monkeys will only do the daytime sessions.

*actually, I realise the day that was like that was a Tuesday this year...

They do not appear to have published a calendar for 2016 as yet, however, I do get their e-mail press releases so will let you know when it comes out.

I seem to remember three major GT meetings earlier this year on consequetive weekends, all on the GP circuit. I suppose you can only run the meetings on the dates the organisers give you...

That's right Steve, there's a 'pecking order' headed by the Grand Prix's.
