GCCheddaris should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Talk of Thruxton and Shellsport Escorts reminds of a duel between Gerry Marshall and Divina Galica in said Escorts at Thruxton .

Filmed by ITV as part of a series called ( I think ) man versus woman Gerry eventually prevailed in a 5 lap race .

That's an odd one. They did this last year, showed up with two mega exciting classic formula ford races and the rest was abysmal. 6 race programme that got cut to 5. Wouldn't be surprised if this one gets cancelled about a week before its due date.

I appreciate that last May's BARC meeting was pretty terrible - which was caused by trying to manipulate two sprint races championships into a full race meeting. However, this may not be the case here, given that the MINI race is scheduled to last for about 90 minutes, plus there are quite a few series that are yet to publish provisional calendars. So there is still opportunities for a bit more content to be added.

True, still yet to hear from Hyundai coupe cup, mighty minis and North West sports and saloons etc. Hopefully it wont be a case of a meeting that should've been stapled onto the CTCRC meet. Either way 7 car dates for Mallory without the inclusion of the boxing day races is a major achievement for the little place. Bosses must have taken note of us car lot moaning this year which is nice to see

Would be good to see that one again - and a few others like Norman Abbott's (?) pink car, sponsored by Spider's Nightclub or something. Then there was the likes of Roger Taylor and David Coleman, who of course was from Norwich!

HSCC to celebrate the Ford Escort

The Historic Sports Car Club will celebrate 50 years of the Ford Escort with two special one-model races at Brands Hatch on Sunday 23 September.

The double-header races on the Indy circuit will be open to a range of race-prepared examples of the famous race and rally car and it is hoped to have one or two special saloon Escorts on the grid.

Meanwhile one of the most famous race Escorts of all will be on hand as Henry Mann from Alan Mann Racing will bring ‘XOO 349F’, the ex-Frank Gardner Mk1 racer. Gardner used the 1600cc twin-cam Escort to win the 1968 British Saloon Car Championship and clinched the title at Brands Hatch in September. Although not able to race, the iconic red and gold car will run some demonstration laps during the day.

The Escort’s competition debut came in a rallycross meeting at Croft in February 1968 and its rally debut was a month later on the San Remo Rally in Italy. It went on to become one of the most successful and enduring competition cars of all time.

Grahame White, Chief Executive Officer of the HSCC, said: “We thought it was very appropriate to mark 50 years of a car that has had such an impact on the sport. We also hope to attract some former Ford Escort racers to come and join in the celebrations.”

Anyone interested in taking part in the pair of races should contact the HSCC Club office on office@hscc.org.uk

Pleased to see that according to the recently released HSCC calendar that the GTSCC will be returning to Castle Combe on October 6th .

Regarding the Thruxton 50th Anniversary meeting I see that as well as the Motor Racing Legends grids , the HSCC are contributing several races including double-headers for Historic Formula Ford and Super Touring ( as previously mentioned ) a 40 minute race for Guards Trophy contenders and various non championship races for Formulas Two , Three and Ford 2000 . I wonder if the intention is to combine the various slicks and wings single seaters the on one grid ?

Mmm, interesting. Given the Thruxton meeting is only one day, I would think some combined grids.

As for GTSCC, I’m not sure how HSCC would know that they are definitely racing at Combe. I believe CC would like the grid back, but that date gives only a few days to get cars reprepared afterwards and ready to transport to the Algarve for their big race there. All a bit tight......

But you got back from Hungary okay this season ! I know you weren't racing in Hungary but how many weeks was Portimao after Castle Combe this season ? That was why I wondered if Castle Combe were going to move their fixture forward by a week next year .

Thruxton is a weekend fixture , 2nd/3rd June and as Brands mentioned on the previous page very good value at £24 in advance for the weekend . With the investment they are putting unto the circuit hopefully the BARC will be rewarded with good grids , good weather and a good crowd .

Mike and Will, PA just released a preview from their "new" regulation. As to points attribution, what do you understand when they say that points will no more be given to the car but to the driver? How do they intend to manage when there are two drivers on the same car? I think you should talk with them before its too late.

Yes, I’ve seen that, Gerard. Also see that CER have adopted Masters rev limits on some engines. Makes sense as owners can race in either series without being disadvantaged in one or the other.

Points going to drivers(s) rather than cars is better (in my opinion) as if an owner has to change steed because of a failure or accident, they don’t lose out. From memories of other series, they are awarded to both drivers, if sharing. Whether the designated ‘owner’ gets more or preference in a tie, I don’t know.....

Oh to have more than one car where this would be a problem to me!!

My reading is both drivers will get the same points if sharing a car...I will therefore be writing to PA to work out how I can get one more point than Dad!

I like your reading but could see nothing precise about this in the new rules yet.
My feeling is that at the moment we could try to express ourselves before its too late to have some influence, not so common dont you think so?
As to HTC series, they are still working about tires also. Nothing too much clear between threaded, radials and so on. If only they could understand that when there is no availability in 13" for instance they could admit 15" types when the overall diameter is the same ( think FIA allows that under conditions).

It is now confirmed that the GTSCC Series will have races at Donington HF, HSCC Silverstone International meeting and the Algarve Classic. NO final decision yet regarding the Castle Combe Autumn Classic. Race length in Portugal is programmed to be 2hrs, but I expect the Donington and Silverstone races will be shorter, maybe 90 minutes if the schedule allows.....

The calendar is done, and apologies for what it has done to the forum pages! That’s the way it works, unfortunately. Don’t forget if you want to post anything about a particular meeting, just find the entry on the calendar, click on it and the thread will open...... Quicker than scrolling through pages of entries!

There are possibly errors and omissions (head goes into a spin about 2/3 of the way through), so if you spot anything please post on here so can be dealt with.

Cheers.
