And scene with the stream. Imsa.com shuts her down mid Hindy sentence after quali.
Oh well. Good and clean for all sessions today. *knocking on wood* Mazdas did at least a couple of laps it seems. Only 5 secs off the pole time |

Nope, Mazdas are preserving their tires for the race. They claim they have a chance since they can make the distance if green all the way on only one stop… Well if that's their strategy, it doesn't cover for the GTLM cars, which are faster than they are and can also make the distance on only one stop!

Seriously. Both Action Express cars look fantastic! The Corvette DP is a great car. I hope they kick some a$$ today at Long Beach. Although I WON'T be cheering for Corvette in GTLM. Its time for someone else to win there.
You might as well have the DP cars be its own class today. How much money would you bet on a GTLM being the highest placed car when you throw in the John Pew driven Ligier, the Mazdas, and the DW? |

You speaking of "Corvette DP" as a car of it's own, and running as if under single chassis is always funny to me...
Meanwhile GTE Corvettes have received BoP penalties while others have gained so your wish should be granted. |

Also, the GT cars (relatively speaking) aren't a ton slower than the prototypes--only about 2-3 seconds a lap slower in Q.
It's not like Silverstone last week which is an apples to oranges comparison in more ways than one. Silverstone of course being a much different track compared to LBGP, and there, the LMP1 cars raced, which skews the results even more. Given all of that, the LMP2 cars last weekend were about 10-11 seconds clear at least of the GTE cars, while the LMP1s were over 20 seconds clear of the GTE front runners in terms of Q and race lap times. Again, this is apples to oranges in a lot of ways which makes any direct comparison pretty much meaningless except in relative terms, but I'm surprised that even with having probably nearly 150 more BHP and being lighter than the GTE/GTLM cars that the DP-chassis prototypes aren't much more than a couple of seconds a lap faster. That means that the GT cars will be spending a lot of time early on on the overall lead lap, won't be the easiest things to pass, and if the race becomes a caution-fest, I can imagine some GT cars maybe finishing on the lead lap. |

I think the GTLM cars will probably only get lapped once the whole race. And that probably won't happen until 45-50 minutes into it. Too bad there is no rain today. That would have helped them contend for overall victory but as it is. They might beat all of the non-DP cars in the field nontheless. It would be neat to see BMW win as they have not won in a while. GTLM is a category where I like to see everybody win at least once during the year. Also the way the two series does there BoP and tires is different. Look at COTA last fall. LMP2 in WEC was 2-3 seconds a lap faster than LMP2 in TUSC. The reverse was the case in GTE. Where the TUSC cars were faster than their WEC counterparts. Personally I don't mind that. Unlike other people I LIKE to see the classes close together. Long Beach will be a fantastic race today. Last edited by jasonjessica09; 18 Apr 2015 at 15:36. |

I don't expect an FCY today but if there is one. 90% chance its caused by the DW or the Mazda.

I'll take anything in GTLM aside from the 911's and the #25 BMW.

Gtlm should be a lot closer and more exciting race this year wit the split starts.no chance for some one like pew or the Mazda to get in between two gyms and ruin the race like last year.

They are splitting the classes on the start? The Mazdas have no business being in front of the GT cars

Shouldnt have split the starts, looked really bad with the 2 tiny grids.
#4 Corvette ran the #912 into the wall. |

Terrible idea to split the starts for this!!!!!! Not only that the GT cars started more than 30 seconds after the P cars took the green. If you will do a split do it he way GA did in 2013.

Looks like the Mazda strategy is shot since they are down 18 seconds after 5 minutes. is there one stop strategy well maybe take one of their laps off that they will be down by the end of the race

When the grid is small the split start feels really pathetic.
