On Sunday morning we lost Bob Trotter who died peacefully at home. He was diagnosed with an aggressive lung cancer just before the Oulton Park Gold Cup last August and was told he might not survive until Christmas.

Typically, Bob exceeded all expectations and although he was reluctantly forced to spend the early part of April in hospital he discharged himself on Good Friday still with the intention of spectating at the HSCC Thruxton Easter Revival, unfortunately he just ran out or time.

Sad news.

I have had the great pleasure of catching up with Bob and Jan at a few meetings over recent years and and it was always a fun few minutes with a perpetually upbeat couple and the ever present offer of a bacon butty. Sadly I always managed to pass by at the wrong time for butty making. But then there was always next time to look forward to ...

Bob seemed to navigate through his rapidly developing illness with great fortitude and realism. An example to all of us.
