Back home after 4 days up north. Thankfully have a couple of days off to recover and sort through some photos.
Great save in the Guards GT race by half the field after fluid was dropped at Lodge corner on the first lap. Will post a few in the week. |

Hottest day I've ever been to OP. 2nd Derek Bell was superb, a bit like G8 c1977... Shame the 2nd Martini was a damp squib, though the 1600s was a good race.

At least the journey back to London on Sunday night was 150% better on the M6 than on Friday pm.
Had a great race with Mike Eagles in his de Tomaso Mangusta - he beat me by 0.3s. Dry practise and race was unexpected, but welcome. The Chev ran well and beat last year's fastest lap by 2s. Very friendly paddock and good company the whole weekend. Great driving standards which is an Historic Road Sports hallmark - in contrast to the opposite in U2TC at Silverstone Classic 4 weeks ago. The only mild irritation was the MSA noise scrutineers ... OK I know they have got to do it, but unsure why I pass the test at 3 tracks this year and always get a gipsy's warning at Oulton. Ho hum, that's life. Now totally kn*ckered after driving the Camaro 360 miles there and back. You gotta be a good ole boy to take this in your stride, no ****. Nick |

I'll second that!
I thought it was an HRS rule for cars to be road legal? |

Just one of the best weekends racing. Massive thanks too Colin for letting me start in the Guards race,I think we might go back to Colin starting as we had not praticed the driver change that way round and lost 20 secs in the pit.
We had a class 3rd in E Type Challenge not sure wher we were in the Guards but I had a lot of fun dicing with a Cobra,7th in FF2000 with the Brown and Silver Delta now repaired after the Spa shunt got driver of the day," well chuffed". The Arnott very nearly saw chequred flag but I had so much fun . Met some of our Marshall friends many thanks too them and blooming heck there was a lot of spectators there.. Well done HSCC and thank you God for the sunshine. |

It was not just me that had a good time : Justin Murphy won the race from 4th on the grid - stirring effort after all sorts of probs with noise scrutineering - and breaks the Oulton jinx he has suffered on the last five visits - as I recall, out of those races, the only time he finished a race, he got disqualified. This time, laurels in the sunshine. He was very happy. And you are right about HRS, all cars must be road-licenced and MoT'd (but when was that last checked ??!) and you are encouraged to drive to-and-from, tho' very few do. Nick |

I know Justins had a torrid time at OP, I've had to fix it twice! snapped throttle cable must be the worst! but a sterling effort by him, I know his car is T&T'd, I've driven it on the road, its horrible!!!
and well done Robyn, who needs a twin cam! |

... And if anyone does need a twin cam I have the next best thing, all the parts brand new to make an all singing all dancing twin cam. A legacy of the Merlyn as we were going to build a top spec engine. All bought new from Burton's earlier this year.
OP was a very expensive weekend for me when I last went there and that was without even sitting in a race car so I am happy to give the track a wide steer! |

Terrific to see such a range of cars in a short series of posts Brands. I could watch the Martini Trophy all day, definitely my favourites.
Lovely pics. |

2-litre G6 racers are great, MM, as are S2000s, but there weren't enough of them. Oulton is a big track when there are only 8 runners...
