Kovalainen for dragging that Lotus within touching distance of the pack. Voted for him mainly because of the lack of much interesting or unexpected happening further up the field. Respect to The top 3 and TGF though.

Am I right in thinking TGF is Michael Schumacher? If so what does it stand for?

Ah right ok, I have seen it used on various forums and glad I understand it now. Its a relief to learn that the 'F' stands for 'Fellow' too.

I never thought of it until you mentioned it, but perhaps the 'F' is open to interpration...

I say Button; great start, nice pass and subsequent defense against Webber. As an added bonus he kept it close and actually gained time on the other German F.

Not for me. That's why I went for Sebastian, although really he was the logical choice as well. The boredom factor will set in, but for now I'm still in awe and very sorry for Mark, who's on the receiving end of it.

Thought Button and Alonso (probably time to drop Teflonso now?) also drove great races within the limitations of their cars.

Looking through the results, as I am right now, others to perform well were Alguersuari, Sutil, Perez, Senna, Kovalainen and Karthikeyan. Some of those are beginning to do so on a regular basis now.

I agree; he has matured a lot it seems or at least is putting on a brave face. He is, after all, a 30 year-old man now and as you get older, more maturity generally comes.

The Poll is about "Driver of the race" not "Best Driver of the race". So for me it's about the one who did entertain me the most. And since the Massa - Hamilton incident was pretty much the only noteworthy thing in this race it's Hamilton for me, for once he didn't **** it up.

I'm not taking these polls too seriously, it's just F1 after all. But each to their own, i suppose.

P.S. the clue is in the smiley.

So, this weekend it's TGF for me - not a perfect race by any means but on a new track he adapted well and looked as competitive as the car would let him.

And that's absolutely fair enough, Bernard. Many of us have different criteria. On that basis, your vote for Hamilton has its own merit, albeit there's no way it's a vote I would have gone for in this race. I have to say Webber would have been a bad choice for this race, even on entertainment grounds, because he went backwards (unlike Hamilton, not through no fault of his own) and I don't think he pulled any successful moves.

This was one of those races where I can't think of a driver that stood out with any entertainment factor. Vettel and Button were out front in mostly clear air putting the laps in, I assume as they were hardly on TV, and the rest were following with hardly any overtaking as the track was far too dusty off line. the only entertainment was the Hamilton/Massa incident and for once I thought Lewis did everything right. I'm sure that isn't the popular opinion but its mine. Can't really give either driver of the race as both were painfully slow in comparison to their teammates. maybe Schumacher for his strong 5th finish??

With regards to Michael, i do wonder if he'd have finished ahead of Nico if Nico hadn't been left up on the jacks for so long during his pit stop?

The cynic in me immediately questioned whether this was some way to aid Michaels position

I'm voting for Alonso anytime he gets that heap of **** on to the podium. Other drivers have to run exceptional races to be DOTR otherwise.
Vettel is dominating in the best car of the last 3 seasons. He's matured from his "crash-kid" tag and doing what he's meant to do, but to my mind, its rare that his drives are that good.
When Mansell dominated in 1992, how many stand out drives were there from him.
The races I remember Mansell for were when he was fighting for victory. His best probably Silverstone 1987, still get goose bumps remembering that day.
When TGF was dominating in 2000 to 2004, it wasn't every race that he was the best. To my mind his best race was Hungary 1998, but there was some artistry in 2002 when he won in Spa, pulling away from Rubens at a second a lap.

I feel half the time, the media like to build Vettels victories up into these special events because otherwise the general public will turn away.

That's because when it comes to race day, Schumi had been beating Rosberg on raw speed for most of the season. He only lets himself down on qualifying & mistakes/collisions.
