If we're going down the route of silhouette cars, why does it have to be either limousines or GT cars? DTM equalizes aero performance anyway, so they could allow both kinds. Also, they should try to get VESA on board as well. Would be a nice synergy if Ford could use the same basic car with a Mondeo or a Falcon body in Europe and Australia respectively, same goes for GM.
To properly control the regulations on such a global scale, I'd suggest homologating the cars...preferably with a couple of roadgoing examples needing to be built (not too many to keep costs down), to maintain at least a semblance of connection to the roadcars (that's what bothers me the most about current DTM rules. If they had to build 10 roadgoing C-Class DTMs when they introduce a new model plus two if they want to homologate an evolution for a new season, I'd be fine with it). |

Aussie Sports Sedans are closer to the DTM/GT style cars than the V8 Supercars..

I'm not sure I agree, and it's beside the point: It's not about how close they are now, but about a possible common new set of regulations for the premier national touring/GT series.

V8 Supercar still use the original production car style body & chassis where as the others use a space frame style. They would get their doors blown off by DTM style cars. It would cost big $$$$ to get them up to the speed of the others.

Yes, we all know that, and it's still not about racing the current cars against each other

Nice dream mate, but V8 management strongly protect their series & seem to despise all other Touring/Sportscars series.

www.sportmotores.es reports today DTM has recently tested a car in Japan. It seems it was around seven seconds slower than Super GT car.

AUTOSPORT reported that the meeting had been done between ITR and GTA.
ITR and DMSB proposed the unitedly technical regulation idea to GTA, JAF and Japanese auto manufacturer. The union CFRP monocoque and the cost cutting idea seem to be proposed. http://as-web.jp/news/info.php?c_id=2&no=23858 |

hey Samuari has any thought been given to how this will affect Formula Nippon? Since SuperGT and FNippon are suppose to share engines. Be kinda cool if eventually Honda,Nissan,Toyota,Mercedes and Audi were battling it out in those Swift chassises. just a thought

The report said they are only looking for unity in technical regulation (mainly carbon monocoque), there is no mention of a joint series, but maybe one or two joint races. This meeting is just a beginning of talks.
