For that same reason the end to Jerez 1986 was very boring. In fact most of the '80s racing was dull-o-rama. And i've never rated Fangio's '57 Nurburgring win.

Lets have qualifying to line them up in order of pace, give them consistent race cars and watch the overtaking thrill us.

Remember the days of the 20 minute qualifying with the final minute of frenzy? Qualifying engines good for only a few laps, unlimited tires, unknown fuel loads and strategies. Imagine the pressure the mechanics had back in the day to change engines for race day, set up the T-cars on top of the two cars on the grid. Now there is Parc ferme...the mechanics can go to sleep.

So much more interesting than anything Bahrain/China/Abu Dhabi/South Korea/India/any other Tilkedrome serve up.
I wouldnt add South Korea to that mix, its a pretty solid "cut the BS" type of almost oldschool circuit in my book (despite being new) and AFAIK Tilke's involvment was minor to None there.

However I certainly agree with what you've said. These new tracks are putting everything in perspective, certainly my appreciation for Hungaroring grows year by year (btw most def among the top5 coolest tracks to drive on with any F1 game Simulator imo) and I really miss Imola and even Magny-Course (each of which are far better than the new ones you mentioned combined)

The race was a very strong 7 for me but it easly had a potential of 9 would they have let Grosjean saga to unfold ..... Thanks McNish

7, enjoyed it but found myself drifting off a couple of times. The battle for minor places kept my interest .
