[V8SC09R07&08]Symmons Plains Raceway, Tasmania (merged)

And so it is that the V8 Supercar circus moves to warm, , sunny, , Tasmania, for Round 4 (*ahem* Event 4). Another whitewash for Triple 8? After their efforts here last year, one might think so.

Will Whincup run off the road on the cool down lap again after being egged on by Crompo and Matty White? Only time will tell ...

David Thexton to make a magical return with the black #021 and thump em all due to his expert use of the soft tyre.

Money is on David Thexton as well, last minute call up and a drive from the back of the grid!

Don't worry about the V8's, more interested in watching Akermenace drive in the Mini series.

Weather will be the big factor this time of the year!!

Grid girls bring your thermal's!

of coarse not, need pic's for that.

i'm predicting there will be a few "optimistic" passes down at the hairpin from people on options.

I like "special". Anyway, I just hope something other than a 888 Falcon wins, for interests sake. I think if GT doesn't score here though, forget the Championship. HRT to put all eggs in 1 basket for DAVO!!!
As for GRM, both cars in Top 15 - that would be a good result. Not a circuit that we have been strong at in recent years.

What did old Mike Raymond used too say "Horsepower reins at the Plains". It's hard to see anything other than a Vodafone car doing the business

Mr Marshall is reported in AA to think his old BF will have better aero in a straight line so he should have front running pace Hopefully Mr Bright will be afforded that luxury as well....

I don't believe that 888 have better horsepower than anyone else (in fact they probably have less than some others) - It's the way their chassis/set-up gets the available horsepower 'down' to the track - whilst still being gentle on their tyres.

If we know one thing about V8 Supercars - You need to look after your tyres to be quick!

Yes and good brakes too!! Can be very frustrating closing under brakes only to lose them on the straights

SBR have been known to have good horsepower. I wonder if it will help their current crop?

I do predict that BPB will stuff up... again....

Getting the power down out of the hairpin is going to be a key and the 888 vehicles seem to be doing that better than anyone currently

Its no secret that DJR can build a very good engine, combine that with the 888 Chasis i expect them DJR boys to be up mixing it with there chassis suppliers for the duration of the weekend.

It will be interesting to see how Teams use the soft tyre.

At Symmons there are a lot less corners than at Winton so I think a lot of people will try to do the whole of Saturdays race on them.

The "Targa Class"... didnt Qmedia want to take category rights for GT a while back?

Would be good fun to see the Lambo of Mr White on a race circuit... perhaps the Mosler can go play there?

White might be there, but we have a Targa circuit racing class here in Tassie. It was started for Targa drivers who wanted to use their cars more than once a year and not have to fiddle with them to comply with say IP cars. But its open to any Targa type car which is just about any tin top car.
There are 3 classes, A, B and C based on capacity and B and C has a lap time limit for each track, A does not. Depending on entry numbers sometimes we all run together sometimes its 2 of the 3 together.
Ill be there!!

Here's some of the cars here
