Steve Ellery
A job well done to get 3rd place. At the press conference he stated he is close to signing a new deal for next year and the year after would like to expand to 2 cars - if extra sponsorship and a liscense can be found.
Top marks for mentoring a young driver and then going on to have two good finishes in the long distance races. |

What a great 2 enduro's you have had. Car went without a fault all day and you must be biting at the bit for the rest of the rounds this year and a strong 2004.

Perhaps Luke Youlden should also get a mention. He did a really good job considering the limited experience he has.

they both did a great job.
am i right that Super Cheap have pulled out for next year ? If so i hope Steve can find some good backing and also enough to run youlden in a second car (that boy is good) an excellent couple of Enduro's that they have had should put them in good stead with negotiations. |

I'll be honest i didn't give Ellery a chance in either enduro but the way him & Youlden drove in both races was unbelievable & it is a fine achievement for them both.

A job well done.
I thought Ellery and Youlden's appearance on the podium was quite revealing. Ellery thanked everybody except Youlden. I thought Youlden was quite subdued, and while he thanked the team in general he didn't mention Steve, just his father Ken and another person, whose name I didn't catch. Just like at Sandown, Youlden struggled to match the times of Ellery, though to his credit he kept it off the wall. If Stephen Ellery Racing survives into 2004, don't count on Youlden still being there. |

Holden has had an eye on Youlden for a while. Don't know where he would fit in though.

Might fit in OK at CPR. Perhaps DJR might look at him too.

Of significance is that Jose Fernandez ran a Craig Hasted engine in his Fujitsu car at the weekend... that team has been spoken about as wanting to move up to the main series and that they were sniffing about for a L2 franchise licence slot...

I believe greg did have a drive for the start of the year, in the 'i cant believe its not the green eyed monster' 00 motorsport BA. Did nothing spectacular, but who expected it from that team after Craig left..

Ellery Motorsport as a level 2 Team has now shown that the present system of 2 levels is a rip off by the level one teams .
To be as competitive as they are they must be investing as much in finance and energy as a level one team surely they are entitled to the same reward. I heard that for coming second at Sandown Ellery got $7,000.00and the last placed level 1 team got $27,000.00 now if that is correct or even close to the truth TEGA are not even thinking about playing fair. TEGA should be encouraging a Great team like Ellery not ripping them off |

I know of a L2 team that finished but not well getting more like the first number you mentioned than the 2nd.
There is a pool of dosh distributed as prize money and as appearance fees. 90% of the available dollars are spread to the L1 and L2 teams on the basis of percentage allocation for appearing at the meeting. All teams of the same franchise level achieve the same percentage allocation. The remaining 10% is used as prizemoney for the teams who actually finish the event. I understand the $7k you refer to may have something to do with the prizemoney as opposed to the appearance moneies.... |

Hi guys
Thanks for all your messages and support. All at SCAR are very pleased and thrilled about our last month of racing. We are very close to announcing our deals for next season (before Indy) and at this stage it is all looking very promising. I also did not mean to leave Luke out of my speech on the podium, The noise was so loud that I couldnt even hear myself think and I even left Konica out, so he was not alone. Hopefully we can continue our performance into the last three rounds and next season. Once again thanks for the support. Steve |

I think Steve is one of our best drivers. The way he drove that EL at Indy a few years ago is firmly implanted in my memory bank.
Good job Steve. |
