V8 Team to start F3 Campaign

Just came across the rumour at
http://www33.brinkster.com/aussief3/frame.html

That a V8 Team is looking at starting its own F3 team next year, has anyone got any ideas which team ??

TSR has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
I will have a very very rough guess and say GRM. think about it they have ran FF b4 and are now in NC, so why not F3

If you think about who owns an F3 car, and who supports a Supercar team at the moment, and one of its leading drivers the answer leads you down the BJR path, with Maher Algadri at the wheel.....

Is that as credible as the rumour from the same site "David Borg to stop racing F3 and go into the porn industry, making movies and a nude calendar all in 2004."

Makes this place look like Encyclopedia Brittanica

Maybe BJR will fund the program with Bowey doing a nude calenar for 2004.

Mr Algadri is a sponsor of BJR, with the Ademeir Group and Verve 501 apartments appearing on the boot and roof of the black BJR car.

There was one view that Mr Algadri had an equity interest in this team, however it does not appear to be the case

Nope, pure supposition about the F3 team, and researched info about the Agladri sponsorship.

PHR was going to go into F3 next year. That was mentioned early in the year. Somehow i don't think Garry Rogers would go into F3.

GRM are looking seriously at runnnig an F3 last I heard. And I believe he was one of the ones who raised the funds to start Sonic off. In the early days it virtually was GRM.

PHR already do F3. They run Algadri's car for him. They also have a second car minus engine.

What precisely would be the point? A 3rd program to distract the team from the main goal of the Supercar series??

GRM have only had minor success in their other two categories so i don't think another program would be a good idea.

Of significance on the PROCAR F3 telecast on at the moment is Michael Ritter has apparently done some engineering work on Christian Jones' Toll Ipec Dallara Mugen...

So perhaps the wires are slightly crossed, that its not GRM looking at an F3 program, but the team GR helped establish in FF, and is supported by the same sponsor group, is expanding its engineering activities.....

Sonic Motorsport is supposedly looking at running a V8 Supercar and i would not discount a F3 campaign either. Of interest in the Garry Rogers connection, is that if he has the team for sale will he then concentrate on NC and F3, maybe then a certain multiple Bathurst winner will take over the reigns of the V8 Supercar team. All conjecture, but possible i suppose.

Some of the people working on the Sonic FF program have done work with the Smiths Trucks Konica team in the past, at Sandown and Bathurst as well. Given that this squad is expanding to 2 cars in Konica in 2004, this may be the more likely solution.

Not sure about some of the statements being made here - Sonic Motorsport wasn't established in FFord by Garry Rogers, it was put together by Richard Davison (Will and ALex's old man) and Michael Ritter with Valvoline purely as sponsor. Thesedays Ritter runs the squad with a bunch of cars in the Oz FFord series.
GTRMagic, just who from the Sonic team has worked for Smiths Trucks? As far as I am aware, one of the team has V8 experience and that was a few years ago with GRM.

Valvoline may have been the sponsor but GR controlled the Valvoline/epco/Cummins money that went to that team, and liveried the drivers in GRM spec race suits as well. So there is a relationship there in some way shape or form.

And there is more to Sonic than just Michael Ritter, the suspension and some engine work is completed by people that built the IMS Commodore VX and prepped engines for Smith Trucks in this season's championships....

Yeah for sure, Valvoline cash is controlled by GR, that relationship is true. So who do you mean in regards to the IMS car? The original was built by Les Small, the only link I can think of between him and Sonic and Ritter maybe the use of SMall's engine dyno, and the fact that James Small might be among the Sonic line up in 2004.

I think you may be getting a bit confused with the guy who built the car at Les Smalls factory working at Sonic Racing. As far as I know there are only 2-3 employees and the guys at Smiths are McLeod and a longtime IMS employee who has never worked anywhare bar there??????????
