Pechito López was supposedly looking to stay in Formula E. But there's only three seats open.

If that's not an option, it would make sense for Toyota to put him in Super Formula.

It would be nice, a great challenge. Anyway I know that you need a major preparation. I never raced in ovals and you must respect Indy. Also there's the economic aspect. Let's see.

Sorry, I couldn't answer what you asked.

The most interesting thing in this series for me is who drives Mugen's car in final race Suzuka. Pierre Gasly or other driver.
I'm gonna go to Suzuka the weekend. I want to see his world level drive again.

According to Marko Honda wants the title, so Gasly will drive.

Gasly should drive, surely an All Japan title is more important than tooling around Austin and finishing 15th

Strange, as according to Honda motorsport boss Masashi Yamamoto they want him to race in Austin:

Directly contradictory stories, it'll be interesting to see which is correct

Hi, friends.

He added: “Of course it is important for Honda to win the Super Formula title in Japan but we think the priority is having him in F1.>>

In Japan, driver's first priority is driving F1.
So one of Super Formula manager Masahiko Kondo allowed Sakon Yamamoto to be a F1 driver during middle season of 2006 Formula Nippon(=Super Formula). It was very riskey for the team to change a driver. However, when a racing driver who get a chance to drive F1, no one stop his dream in Japan. Of course many people want to see his drive in Super Formula final race Suzuka include me!

Well, shame it had to end like that.
Cancelled because of how the weather is expected to be tomorrow? So what happens if the weather is far better than expected and it turns out the races could have taken place after all?

Not the best way to end the championship, especially with six drivers mathematically in contention for the title.
Congratulations to Ishiura, who scored points at every race this season.

(Also, now people on The Internets are thinking they cancelled it because they are xenophobic! )

Anyway, here are some Japanese open-wheel racing numbers

Hi.
It was possible for Gasly to get the champion in this year.
He was able to get extra 1 or 2 points in qualify.
He made very very good time until last chicane.
However, Gasly was disturbed by his team mate Naoki Yamamoto on the chicane.(Naoki was front of Gasly.)
If Gasly made fastest in this lap, he got 1 point and got the title.
I think that it was bad communication between the team and drivers.
Finally Hiroaki Ishiura 33.5pts, Pierre Gasly 33pts.
Gasly regretly missed the title.

I hoped so, it may be same rule as F1. Because of TV schedule or safety official members have other job on Monday or Tuesday and so on.[/B][/B]

I am not sure that this is really serious. Sounds like a list auf dreams with former F1 drivers like Button, Haryanto, Ericsson.

What I've heard (but that are the rumours year after year): Lotterer could leave Super Formula.

Button would be a massive coup.

The other drivers are realistic options.

It certainly seems to be relevant again for aspiring F1 prospects

Followed F.Nippon so much during 1999-2001 and had precious memories from these times. Argentinian drivers, specially Fontana, plus Tuero and Derfler, were present during 96-99.

Not only proper major teams are great in the series, somehow miss much the pack of the teams of the gentlemen drivers, specially LeyJun and B-1.

George Russell speaking on Sky Sports today said he heard that Norris is likely to do Super Formula rather than F2 next year (I got the impression he thought this has been decided).

It seems suddenly going to Japan might be better than staying in Europe or at least on a par. Interesting times ahead

The weekend track time is not great. But then neither is F2. And Japan still has some testing.
