J.U. should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
With PSRX fielding the two Polos what will KMS do? Euro RX? STCC?

Well it looks like it is more than just a rumour now:

Massive news, though it does raise a lot of questions as to how things are going to run. Will PSRX be running the whole thing, or will Solberg be integrating with the KMS team? Are they going to be running updated versions of the KMS cars, or are they starting again from scratch?

New article from Swedish VF, VW motorsport has actually developed and built a new Polo and the duo is to test the car next week.

How the teams will come together is not decided yet but Solberg will run the team from Torsby at least.

Another article from Norwegian VG. The budget is believed to be ca €8,25 - 8,82 million ...

KMS don't seem to be involved according to this article, Solberg is the brain behind all this and also picked Kristoffersson to be in the team. They will have up to 30 people during events with people from VW and Solbergs team.

Much more can be read in the article, otherwise I'll help translate if needed.

That's interesting. I am reading it using Google translate, but it seems like they will be using all new cars for 2017? I wonder who is providing the engines?

That's correct. Like I posted earlier VW has developed and built the cars, F-X doing the bodywork like it says in VG. The cars is all-new and been ready for some time. It is based on the WRC car.

I guess the engine is in-house? I don't know but nothing else has been revealed. But since VW Motorsport developed the cars and gone through a similar phase from when building the WRC cars, my presumption is that they have the same engine builder from WRC.

So, how this can happen if VW are supposedly pulling out of WRC? This must came from a similar budget?

I doubt they will be using the same engines as the WRC ones are tuned for running on a far smaller restrictor and are 1.6 litre.

So unless the car is like the JRM Mini and running a 1.6 litre engine it will be built probably by someone like Callaghan or Trollspeed or Solbergs existing engine man which I believe is Pipo.

The figures being talked about in that article are less than some of those I have seen associated with the WRC, so perhaps this is a "cheaper" (I use the term loosely) alternative? I still think the withdrawal of VW from the WRC was as much a publicity stunt as it was a financial necessity.

The engines would be my only concern at the moment, as I wonder how much expertise VW have with that displacement engine (and running that level of power).

I just said, and guessed, same engine builder that they had in the WRC. The GRC Beetle for example has a 2.0 litre engine and that was an in-house engine I think.

Godfrey was developing an engine, could be him maybe. I believe it is VWs own developed engine though.

I guess with that kind of money VW can buy in additional RX expertise when and if they need it.

It does raise questions for everyone else - and for the sustainability of the sport. Not many will be able to match this sort of budget which is huge by RX standards. You just wonder if WRX is growing too big, too fast - we have certainly seen that before.

Are we talking about per annum or over a 3 year deal?

Why? All WRC engines would have the same problem as WRX is the only series running 2.0 Turbo engines with 45 mm restrictors. And I guess all the VAG engines used by EKS/KMS are about as good as the Ford and PSA engines.
