Machin should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid

Further, no one really wants another spec class. Sure, the engines and tires will be spec, but the cars will look different and will be called different names.
Lets hope that the rules are written in such a way that a "Delta" layout could be tried if someone wanted.

Looking through the Speed Euro Series rules (which is based on CN, right?) it looks like the tyre dimensions mandated preclude the Delta arrangement in that category at the moment....

And who the hell other than the phallic minded Bowlby and the junk lovers at Nissan want that? No one! Atleast keep P3 clean of the flying penis.

Just relax and accept it for the much needed comic relief it is. It is very unlikely to procreate.

Well the whole DeltaWing design is pretty much devastated by this class anyway. Here we have small, light, efficient carts with long-lasting tires which will likely be lapping at speeds close to P2 .... give them a little more rubber and power, and they would be surpassing P2 (lighter and with better power/weight = better performance (someone mentioned the 3-liter Wolf CN nearly reaching P2 sopeeds with 2/3 the displacement.)

If the new P3 class can almost outperform the DWing (can easily outperform its current incarnation) then the DWing is not a better solution.

The whole DWing thing was supposed to be less power, less weight, less fuel used, less rubber burned, and equivalent performance. If LMP3 can do the sdame ... or Tucker's Frankenstein D-sports racer ...

sorry for my ignorance but:
LMP2 have 500 HP and 900 Kg.
The Wolf GB08S 3.0 Mugen V8 (FIA CN4) have 497 HP and 570 Kg.
The Wolf is 330 kg lighter than LMP2.
Then, Why the Wolf is only a few tenths faster than a LMP2?

It was wet for the majority of the weekend at Spa when the Wolf set that time. I agree it isn't a fair comparison, but it's also worth noting that the Wolf is no where near as big as a P2 car in dimension either.

The more I think about this LMP3 idea, the more I love it. I have always thought the Lites series should have used the CN2 cars as either their base class or one of the 2. Remember Lites used to have 3 classes and even included Radicals until Panoz slowly transformed it into a series that only used a car he produced to maintain (read over value) his DP02. If the chassis manufacturers are using cars that can run with CN2 engines and larger CN4 like engines this could be a great scenario for a ProAm. A race team can purchase a car in CN2 form and run it in Lites to develop the car/team/drivers and swap out the engine and perhaps transmission (although it appears some use the same Sadeev 6 sp in the uprated cars) and step up. Bennett did this similar thing with Core starting in Lites and moving up to LMPC. It just would be easier this way.

Nevermind. It just makes way too much sense. It will never catch on with TUSC.

Replacing a spec formula with one which allows for a bit of chassis diversity will get my vote every day of the week. LMPC's been nice, and it's grown on me over time, but having a few extra shapes in there can't hurt. I'm really looking forward to seeing these in ELMS and equally having the clear promotional ladder through VdeV to bring teams on without them having to invest in new machinery.

Bad news? Hard to see any at all from where I'm sitting.

Nice looking car.

BTW What's wrong with a GM LS3? It's a good bang for the buck.

LS3 = Too much weight and power for the class. Nothing agaisnt the motor, but I would imagine that there are smaller, less powerful engines which would offer the same performance.

Performance is not the issue - price is, when you have a cap of €150.000 for the car with engine. They can run the LS3 ridiculously under-stressed, which cuts down on rebuilts as well.

Too much empty space behind the cockpit, needs a fin or something.

IMO the LMP3 will have fin and holes on the final regllations. I remember Joey foster having a huge flying crash on Spa and the new cars will be much more faster than a CN. It's an ugly fix, but a fix.

An LS3 would be a good option just due to durability. It could run for a season with oil changes and then be swapped into your daily driver in the offseason. However, for the 350 targeted power, there are so many options available. It would be great to see someone step up and sponsor whether it is Honda, Ford, Nissan, Hyundai with a bit smaller engine that has durability but screams as it passes by on the straights. The sounds we hear when cars other than diesels pass by which essentially whisper "I am so f'ing fast but you can't hear me".

Wolf V8 also approved

29/11/2013 - The Wolf GB08S widens its perspectives. The Managing Director of Asian Le Mans Series Mark Thomas, confirmed this morning that ACO (Automobile Club de l'Ouest) accepted the car - that is going to be the first CN4 car with carbon chassis allowed into the 2014 championship - for the Asian Le Mans Series. The Wolf GB08S will be entitled to compete in the series also during 2015, when class LMP3 will be introduced.

Giovanni Bellarosa (Wolf Racing Cars, General Manager):
"After the pole position at the debut in the Speed Euroseries in Spa and the track record during Thunderhill's test, ACO's acceptance is a crucial step for the Wolf GB08S, a project on which we invested a lot and that is now ready to offer the highest competitiveness on track while meeting the highest safety standards. The interest towards our car is growing and we are working to make a positive debut into the series".

Good to finally nail it. It's unacceptable to have only two LMP2 cars in the Asian Le mans Series, with one of them struggling with stupid custom officers all the time. Yes I'm talking about KCMG. The grid of Asian LMS needs much more work, seriously.

Aren't the Gibson or the WFR aproved by the ACO? It's suposed that both of them has carbon fibre chassis.

WF03 (now Tiga owned) is a aluminium honeycomb chassis. Not entirely sure is the Gibson has been crashed tested.
