The 'never beaten by Toyota' bit is almost true- apart from Win Percy's one-off swansong class win for the Hughes Corolla at the beginning of '83 before the Celica Supra came on stream, the Datapost RSi's were never beaten by Toyota in the BTCC.
Datapost were beaten from time to time by other RS1600i's, (particularly the Hodgetts/Brooklyn or Richard Belcher/John Jeffreys cars) or the Minshaw & Greenhalgh Golfs, but Toyota didn't have much joy after Percy's 1982 championship until Hodgetts got his hands on a Corolla for '86, by which time Longman and Curnow had both stepped up to the RS Turbo |

Looking forward to seeing any of the cars out on track this year, I do hope you decide to register them for JDC or something, where they would fit nicely.

desperatly want to have one of them go up the hill at the FOS... this year Chris Hodgetts is running a Toyota, so for him to run the Brooklyn car would be very easy.. Just need an invite! been a member of the GRRC for 2 years now.. they know I am the current keeper of both DP cars and Chris's 16i.. + I now have a race licence, so its a case of 'got the gear' (but no idear

As you have a licence it would be rude not to 'race' as well then? |

Yes Chris has been looking for years for his BTCC car from 86/87, but alas still nothing, I was on a trail when I was in NZ... as both car did go there, but after 1990 they seem to have dissapeared. Having a licence doesnt make me a racer.. but have to say sitting on the grid waiting for the lights to go out, is appealing. but I think the fear factor and cost would put me off.. I realy need another racer to restore and find history.. Just love doing all of that.. Currently doing the ground work for a new workshop, big enough to put the 3 racers together as a display together with their history and enough room to have 2 or 3 cars to work on..

The few pictures I have of that car its lost its blue stripes. and had a set on MH500's on it. this car was broken in the late 90ies. as I still keep in touch with its last keeper, who was an Brooklyn employee untill it went pop, couple of years ago. Fortunatly a few bits still exist of this car. now like Johns Morris car live with 69. |

This definitely happened, 7 of the Racing School cars competed at Brands Hatch on August 25, and were driven by: Peter Argetsinger Stuart Cole Chris Creswell Ben Edwards Pete King Lucy Rogers Pete Rogers Rick Shortle As they were all "guest" drivers, they were ineligible for points. Getting back to Group A Escorts, can anyone identify this car? http://theamazoeffect.blogspot.com.a...rd-escort.html |

That's the one- run by Gerstmann Racing. IIRC Jorg van Ommen was another regular driver

Earlier in the thread, I asked about some of the European RS1600is and what happened to them. A few days back, I was flicking through the current 'Classic Ford' magazine, and in a feature about a Fiesta, there's something interesting lurking in a garage in the background of some of the pics-
https://www.facebook.com/classicford...levant_count=1 It's the 'Auto Veri' RS1600i, seen in the ETCC up to about 1985. It's now apparently owned by German Ford enthusiast Guido Pitzen, who also seems to own/has owned a couple of other Group A Escorts with VLN/Nurburgring history http://www.rs1600i.de/index.php?view=myrsi https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...8450583&type=1 |

another one found (remains of)
Terry Dury S1T driven by Mark Hails. this we found at Silverstone last weekend (Ford Fair) its been re shelled into a road car (very nice too) I believe Terry also purchased Datapost 33, and made this car to go with ex DP33.. trying to get hold of the current keeper of this car, I think he comes from Essex
