Canada and Kubica have some history. From a low point in Kubica's F1 career, to a high 12 months later. Exactly 10 years on, it would be the perfect track for a comeback!

Would it be asking too much from the powers that be to put Kubica in the TR seat for Canada?

He can't do any worse than the "flying kiwi", surely.

I wouldn't be too sure just yet that Kubica will be in the seat. Probably more reasonable to note that Kubica is one of many potential drivers that are being linked with the seat, and you could go to any one of many news outlets and get a different name.

In the articles you have linked, the names Wehrlein and Giovinazzi are also mentioned, along with the possibility of a Japanese driver?

Is it a surprise that Polish press promote the potential of a Polish driver? Talking around the office - the Germans think Wehrlein is more likely, the Italians Giovinazzi.....

Perhaps a pinch of salt should be taken when one of the sources has been described in the past on this forum as:

Team-mate battle results for qualifying after round seven (Canada).

Mercedes: Lewis Hamilton - 4
Mercedes: Valtteri Bottas - 3

Ferrari: Sebastian Vettel - 6
Ferrari: Kimi Raikkonen - 1

Red Bull: Daniel Ricciardo - 3
Red Bull: Max Verstappen - 4

Force India: Sergio Perez - 2
Force India: Esteban Ocon - 5

Williams: Lance Stroll - 3
Williams: Sergey Sirotkin - 4

Renault: Nico Hulkenberg - 5
Renault: Carlos Sainz Jnr - 2

Toro Rosso: Pierre Gasly - 4
Toro Rosso: Brendon Hartley - 3

Haas: Romain Grosjean - 2
Haas: Kevin Magnussen - 5

McLaren: Fernando Alonso - 7
McLaren: Stoffel Vandoorne - 0

Sauber: Marcus Ericsson - 2
Sauber: Charles Leclerc - 5

Vettel on pole and Grosjean has a blow. In between them, the Williams cars are just nowhere, dead last effectively. Hartley, almost half a second faster than Gasly. Ericsson, what is this loser doing on the F1 grid?? Puts it in the wall on his first attempt and ends up second last, while his inexperienced team-mate qualifies in 13th. Alonso unbeaten so far in 2018. Ocon and Hulkenberg 2 spots in front of their respective team-mates. Ricciardo outdone by Verstappen. Seems like DR was struggling for pace. Hamilton locked up and Bottas capitalised. Raikkonen was looking good for pole, but threw it away once again.

What I find puzzling is all this talk of Harley being replaced because he has only scored a single point in seven races. Yet the guy that went 49 races without scoring a single point is still on the grid for god knows what reason?? Really doesn't make sense at all to me.

Oh.. and it looks like Lewis will not have a new team-mate next year, if the rumours are correct. Bottas staying on. Apparently.

Would you care to elaborate on these 'sources'?

Are they the same sources that said Hartley would be replaced for Canada? Or are they other sources that you have previously referred to as fake?

Driver rankings post Canada. Verstappen in the top ten for the first time this season. Took him seven rounds to have a good weekend. Only the Mercedes and Red Bull team-mates feature in the top ten.

Ericsson, Sainz and Vandoorne comprehensively beaten by their team-mates. That's 10 and 0 in Alonso's favour over Vandoorne. Top effort by Hamilton to take pole over the Ferrari's, who now clearly have the better chassis and best engine. Five Ferrari powered cars in the top ten, on a track that was expected to be dominated by Mercedes power. No DRS for Ricciardo, so Verstappen had an unfair advantage.

Ricciardo DID have DRS on his final lap in Q3, only failed in the first but as it was just a software flitch it was fixed.
