I suspect that this is going to be a very tough qualifying session to watch if you are a Porsche fan.

Unfortunately I could not watch Silverstone, obviously I know the results but can you tell me who seemed to be the fastest Porsche driver?

It seemed to be Tandy off the top of my head. It would either be him or Hartley; unsurprisingly they did the lion's share of the laps for their respective cars.

Well it's his first race for Porsche. Maybe we need to give him some more time to adapt.

So, I wouldn't be surprised to see that at Porsche he is not the best in his car, but obviously this was his first race for Porsche, he still has the potential to be the quickest and I wouldn't judge him based on this one race, I'm just saying that for me it's not obvious at all that he would be the best.

I'm not sure how anyone can come to the conclusion that Lotterer was below par last year - I disagree, but it can be argued in isolation - while Duval wasn't, when he was easily the slowest driver of his car last year, and if not for Treluyer he would have been the slowest Audi driver overall.

Back on topic, Porsche more or less matched Toyota for race pace with their LD setup on a high-downforce track. While they should be disappointed with the result (had the #1 had shadowed the #8 then at worst they could have pincered the Toyota at the end), the race-running of the LM-spec aero and the speed on old tyres are encouraging.

They seem to have a slight fuel economy advantage, but the low drag package probably helps in that regard. The pit stops are definitely in favor of Porsche. I wonder if they found another way to get the fuel in the tank faster like in 2015? On pace, they were within a second, but imo the safety car and the rain closed the gaps up and Toyota didn't have 2 bullets in the gun to cover both Porsche's. Plus I feel the #8 car was the faster Toyota, especially when on fresh tires. This is going to be good come Spa because Toyota knows what they need to do now and Porsche will feel confident with the LM package's pace.

I think they have F1 style wheel nuts which helps on the wheel change stops.

I don't know how surprising it was , but it was mentioned to me by someone at Toyota that they would have the same stint length as Porsche. Perhaps it was the low downforce kit. Will it make the extra lap at Le Mans?
