I hope we don't move to a single POTF, but revert back to having a range of motors with varying no of cylinders, capacities, and perhaps forced induction. OK, so parity will be fun, but GT3 seems to manage it OK. I would far sooner V8SC added other engine formats, not change to another.
If we have to have a single powerplant type, please let it stay V8, simply because of the sound. And no, marketing, or what-the-public-drives is not an issue for me - I've never owned a V8 (that's not to say I haven't wanted one). |

whatever they put in their cars, I wouldn't mind it in mine lol
with all the complaints made in F1 about the turbo's lack of noise, I see the same thing happening here, but the racing is so good this year, they kinda forget about it, but a nice sounding engine makes this series attractive and the closeness of it to I might add. |

Need a min noise level.
If they the manufacturers want fuel flow regs and hybrid gizmo's, the price to teams needs to be cost capped |

DTM & SuperGT are going to ditch V8's for four pot 2.0l turbos from 2017
http://www.dtm.com/en/News/DTM-and-S...gulations.html Could this have a bearing on V8SC plans..... |

Possibly. Sadly refers to DRS which is an abomination. In my opinion, of course.

DTM AND SUPER GT TO DITCH V8 ENGINES IN 2017
just adding speedcafes take on things Both my daily drivers are 4cyl turbos (one is diesel, one is petrol) It would appear to be the way of the future in passenger vehicles (even the new mustang has one) It provides much more options for brands wanting to join the sport as they pretty much all produce one. But the sounds is quite lacking compared to the v8s which is a big downside |

I think smart low capacity turbos are the future of responsible, enjoyable motoring. Quote:
Fours and sixes is where people are going to spend money to promote something so this is likely where the new regs will have to cater. But boy there's going to be some fun with parity. |

Well, if at the moment with a couple of different configurations of 5L V8s all mandated to a 'power ceiling' etc, why not just open it up to any engine, any configuration, any induction, and use the same formula?

The 2.3 Mustang is pretty quick.
Its also the slowest of the models available. No V8s will be the end of the line |

I don't disagree.
But I'm not convinced that the race cars need to be so comparable to what we all drive to work and the local shops. You guys drive 4cyl, fine, but why does that need to be reflected on the track. I drive V8s, but they're not 600HP and wearing slicks. Marketing can still work, as proven as recently as Volvo's involvement (Involvoment?) Last edited by ford71; 1 Oct 2014 at 03:21. Mixed Engines for 2017 ???
Quote from the (currently called) V8 Supercars CEO
"We will be opening up power plants, door configurations and the like." Will it be a mix of engines from 4pot turbo, V6 Turbo & V8's ??? |

If there are multiple engine configurations, it should be legislated that they come from one source for a brand
So.. If Holden wants to run a 1.6L turbo in its Insignia, then its contracted teams in 888, Tekno, WP & BJR should take their engines from Holden Motorsport, who sources them from KRE or Cragsted or similar... Consistent quality, easier to paritise the single spec for the brand.. |

It's already a bit rediculous with teams crying about engine parity because a team at the pointy end of the field is buying essentially the same thing elsewhere and generating more horseponies. |

Not a fan of multiple engine configurations at the moment.
That could change however. I just love what the product is currently. :\ |

Matt, the manufacturing landscape is changing down here with the departure of Ford and holden in the not too distant future, and if the series is to have any security then changes will most likely have to be made.
