British Rallycross R2 - Lydden
Couple of weeks to go to this, so thought I'd give it a thread of its own.
According to the British Rallycross Championship Facebook page today is the first closing date for entries, so hopefully we'll see a provisional entry list in the next day or so. Anyone know of any surprise appearances we can expect? |

Surprise appearances? I'm going!
OK, given I'm hoping to get to EVERY meeting this year, perhaps not a surprise, but I do know that Mark Flaherty will be making his season debut in the second Albatec Peugeot 208 Supercar. I would also expect his son, Mitchel, will make his season debut in the Swift Sports. Looking forward to being there and showing Barry Stewart a detailed scale model of his Porsche 911 Turbo I finished making a few weeks ago. I'm well advanced with a model of Stuart Emery's Peugeot 206 too. Doubt it'll be ready for Lydden, but Pembrey definitely. Where do you normally spectate from tbtstt? Cheers, Steve |

Not quite the response I was hoping for, but good to know. Are you displaying on the Retro Rallycross stand?
I'm hoping to be track side, but if not I tend to move round the track throughout the course of the day. I was hoping that we might get a European driver or two using the event as test. |

Hee Hee!
I'm unsure at this stage whether I'll be displaying, but I'll know shortly and let you know the result!! My favoured location for spectating is on the outside of paddock bend, so I can watch the cars warm their tyres up (surely a pointless exercise unless you're selling clutches?) and the launch control of the supercars as they make their way to the grid. Then, as with most locations arouns Lydden, you can watch the action around 95% of the track. I think you're on the right lines about our friends across the channel havign a try out before the World Rallycross a few weeks later. I was watching the Belgian allycross on Motors TV (Channel 71 on Freeview!) and noted that Jos Jansen is using a much earlier Focus than the last time I saw him at Lydden. Has something happened to the Mk3 Focus? Cheers, Steve |

Didnt the mk3 focus get well and truly destroyed at a big crash at the estering late last year? I believe the mk3 was repalced with mdk's old mk2?

If you watch the BK rounds, the car seems the same, unless it is just bodykitted.
And if you see clips from Mettet this weekend I would not be going there, track looks to be really rough for some reason, loadfs of punctures and broken suspansion |

It serves a two fold purpose, firstly it clears all the crap off the tyres that you have picked up in the paddock, and secondly it gets quite a bit of heat into them. You would be amazed how much extra grip you get off the line if your tyres are clean and warm. |

Jos Jansen making the trip over with a Fiesta?
Supernational looks to have a good entry (as do the Swifts) but MINI and Hot Hatch are very thin on the ground. Should be a good meeting though |

Janssen drove his "normal" focus mk3 in the first and second round of the Belgian Championship. And he will drive the same car at Lydden (not a fiesta)

Thanks for clarifying.
I believe there are as many errors in the provisional entry list as there are accurate entries! For example, Rob Gibson will be driving a 1600cc MG Metro. Similarly, Paul Smith has apparently bored out his Polo Coupe to 2 litres from its usual 1300cc. Hmmm! Those are jusrt two of the Retro Rallycross mistakes I'd spotted and there are all sorts elsewhere. I think Mitchell Flaherty, for instance, has an unfair advantage over the other RX150, having a far larger engine.... or maybe it's another typo!? I think the work experience students have been filling in the details! Hope the corrections are made before the final programme is printed! Cheers, Steve |

Well, confirmed today that I will be displaying my rallycross models at Lydden on Bank Holiday Monday!
My cabinet with models ranging from 1971 through to the present day (with a lot of Group B 6R4s ) will be in the Retro Rallycross Arena. Do come along, enjoy the action and pop across to see the display, which will be alongside the Retro Rallycross cars. See you there, Steve |

Looking forward to this tomorrow! Anyone who is down there want to spill the beans on any late entries or any no shows? Can't wait to get there and start this year's rallycross bonanza off!

Crash, crash, lights, lights. Shame as it tarnished an otherwise very good day.
Plus they need to sort out which dates the WorldRX will be. Am fairly certain it is 23rd and 24th (Sat and Sun), but the programme, commentators and websites are all at odds and that is going to seriously mess people up. |

Just thawed out, freezing today down by the finish line. Drive of the day Dan Rooke in that Citroën AX. Heard in the paddock Liam has lost monster backing so not sure he'll be in WorldRX. Thought Albatec went well today, Flaherty far better off in a Peugeot. Procter problem with launch control. Lydden need to sort the starting lights/system out to avoid embarrassment in front of the FIA in May. And we need commentators to at least get the dates right for that event! Also no bins anywhere and a lot of pot being smoked. Good crowd but missed the Belgians from previous Easter meetings, shame Jane wasn't allowed to restart, restart or restart the supercar A final. Also where did O'Donovan disappear to?

First two were Flaherty crashing, 3rd one was lights I believe. Then 4th one should have been restarted cos of the lights too - Mr Doran won't be a happy chappy tonight... not that he ever is tbh.

What happened to the jump? Not that it's required (like the joker at Lydden)
