2013 Pocono IndyCar 400

It sounded almost impossible a few years ago, but Pocono is back! Andretti is local here, but Penskes ran very close at Indianapolis.

Thursday 4 - Open test
Saturday 6, 10:00 - Practice
Saturday 6, 13:15 - Qualifying
Saturday 6, 17:30 - Practice
Sunday 7, 12:00 - Practice

24 cars are entered. The #18 Dale Coyne driver isn't confirmed. The #4 Panther will be driven by Ryan Briscoe, but will miss qualifying because heá also racing at the ALMS at Lime Rock.

The move to run Briscoe only in the race and skip practise and qualifying on a new track where aero specifications might be changed during the race weekend if necessary, does appear as if Panther Racing were shooting themselves in the foot yet again. It's an odd decision to say the least.

I had initially thought that Panther would evaluate more than merely 2 drivers but so far, they haven't.

Somehow, I feel Dreyer & Reinbold Racing would never have thought of such a "park and start" strategy that Panther intend to run this weekend. Reportedly, D&R are already sponsored for the 2014 Indy 500. Are they still working on a full season comeback? I sure do hope so.

Congrats to Dixon on the win, Ganassi on Target's 100th win and Honda's 200th win. Who would have thought, that after Andretti got the first three spots on the grid, Ganassi would get all three drivers on the podium?
