I've given myself an extra day this year to get myself organised once I arrive. Should be getting into Bathurst around 6pm Wednesday, so Thursday will be a nice easy day spent gathering all the required equipment from around town.

Hahaha

I'll be doing the same thing next year. Coming up Wednesday and going home Monday.

Great news to have so early.

Bentley has confirmed its return to Bathurst for 2017

Bentley is the first factory team to confirm a return to the Bathurst 12-Hour for*2017.

The British brand has led the race with its Continental GT, even running one-two for a while at this year’s event, but still craves victory in the biggest GT3 race in the Asian region.

It originally announced a two-year program at Mount Panorama but is now extending it in an open-ended commitment that’s helping it sell cars in Australia.

“Yeah, we’ll be back. We have a point to prove,” Bentley’s regional manager for Asia Pacific, David Jackson, confirmed*at the Australian Grand Prix.

Bentley has a big involvement at Albert Park for the second year, including the Australian preview drives – complete with helicopter shuttles to and from Sandown Park – for customers and media.

Jackson said the company has much bigger plans for Australia as it ramps up with its Bentayga, the world’s costliest SUV.

“Australians like their cars and racing,” he said.

“It’s been a key part of the strategy for the past two years to engage with those people.

“The grand prix is for the luxury element and Bathurst is for the performance side.”

Racing is part of the approach and Bentley is keen to get a car into the Australian GT Championship, as well as continuing at the 12 Hour.

“We will be back again next year. It was such a sucess for us, not just on the track,” Jackson said.

“The overall feedback is that Bentley is an exciting brand and the GT3 is an exciting car.”

Jackson does not know if it will be a two-car effort again, or with an expanded involvement, as Bentley has yet to set its racing objectives for 2017.

“I don’t know the details yet. But we are a big supporter. The team, too, is quite keen,” he said.

“We will have to wait for the release of the program later in the year.”

First time this year, no accreditation and lots of superb photos. Very little fencing to get in the way. First few here - https://flic.kr/s/aHskwhRQfd

I won't be doing that next year but I'll have stories to tell about my travels. I just hope that I don't meet again the fox, the emu, the wild dog, three roos on the road not to mention the crazy women in the Ford Territory that tailgated me the last 40kms into Bathurst this year (there's another story in itself)

I'm writing a book. Watch this space

As far as the NSX goes unless the road car is being sold here I can't see Honda Aus getting involved.

Unless the rules are changed no chance of seeing the Honda next year as it's not eligible.

I'd highly be surprised if it appeared even it was eligible. Sounds like this year is a testing and development year with maybe some outings by works teams late in the year.

I'm guessing Honda doesn't have the customer support programme that Audi etc have so couldn't see a car being free next February were it eligible unless it was works backed.

Two Porsches likely for Walkinshaw according to Adrian Burgess, that's another great bit of news to strengthen the field for 2017, already excited about next February!

That'll be great to have some serious Porsche representation in the top class. Hopefully we see JC or Tander or possibly some factory pilots in either car. Of course they won't be the only team running the new GT3R at next years B12...

Any sign of the 2016 Highlights DVD?

In previous years it would have been released by now.

I hear it was pretty good.

Hopefully it remains with Channel 7 for the event however you would imagine that V8SC relationships with Fox Sports and Channel 10 may influence this.

Regardless I think FTA is a must

Based on last 2 year entries opened on July 1, in theory that means a week to go

But things have been pretty quiet under the new promoters, I wonder what will happen this year

The tv package had also been announced, but nothing yet also

Entry is open and regs are out.

Finally they get pro-am driver seeding right.

1 driver must be bronze seeded.

There is a pro class too, so it's balls-out racing.

Plus the AM class again.
